Re: Sunday Afternoon Coed / Spring 2021
Les,
Please remind me how the make up games for rain-outs on 04/25/2021 work. Do the the 04/25/2021 games push the entire schedule back 1 week or with the 04/25/2021 games be made up after the previously last week of the regular season?
Sorry its been a while since I've played.......

Re: FIX THIS RULE! (please)
Les is correct. Use commons sense here. Look to see where the catcher is... Listen for your teammates yelling, "Slide", "Down", etc. There are several other ways you can determine if the ball is catchable without having your attention diverted.

Re: FIX THIS RULE! (please)
I think perhaps my injuries form slide/surrendering may have been somewhat misinterpreted. I think the majority of people in the league are reluctant to slide if they don't have to, perhaps to avoid scrapes/minor injuries, getting dirty, whatever the case may be. And I have seen a couple of injuries...

Re: FIX THIS RULE! (please)
One other point Bob... I know I'm crossing sports here, but take Pass Interference in football. There is no penalty if the ball is uncatchable. The ball has to be catchable in order for the flag to be thrown.

Re: FIX THIS RULE! (please)
BTW it looks like the catcher in the gif tagged the runner with both hands, the glove in one and the ball in the other, on the left shoulder. From this view I'd be inclined to believe the runner is out.

Re: FIX THIS RULE! (please)
Keeping the catcher safe is the reason for the rule and the most important factor of this discussion. throw out safe, or out, or "cheap out", or "catchable", etc. The most important part is player safety. Its completely asinine that you want to eliminate the "catchable ball&...

Re: FIX THIS RULE! (please)
Bob, a good rule of thumb for catchers is to stand out of the base path. I've played a fair bit catcher during my tenure on Sunday mornings and generally when a ball is put I take a few steps in front of the plate, until I receive the ball, then step inline with the base path to make a tag. And when...

Bill is correct. a * next to the team name indicates forfeited games. The winner and the loser of each forfeited game gets a *.

Re: League MVP Candidates / Spring 2018
When I 1st started doing the league statistics I was told to remove Eddies with less than 15 plate appearances and Core players with less than 18 plate appearances from the final week's League Leader Board. Hope that helps Jack.

Re: Sunday Afternoon Coed / Summer 2018
Bob,
I'd assume (maybe, I'm not really sure tho) the fees for Hatfield are more expensive than the ones at Lukens and Cedar Hill. If you don't need Hatfield because for its lights and there isn't a demand for more than 3 fields, why spend the extra money?

Re: Rule awareness
Certain umpires such as yourself Joe, are approachable.... others are not. Those others do not make the situation any easier. When the team is trying to have a discussion on if they want to protest the ruling, others may and often become belligerent. Even after the team decides to ultimately NOT pro...

#3 becomes even more applicable when said umpire makes the wrong ruling on questions 1 & 2 and is adamant in his ruling.

Rule awareness
There were two unusual plays that I witnessed yesterday that I believe should be discussed to bring general awareness to the league. 1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a wrong bag situation at 1st base is ALWAYS an appeal play, right? I was under the belief that the umpire must call the runner out or s...
