Re: Spring Season Scheduling 2024
Thanks for identifying and implementing the Stover Field solution for the spring season! Over the course of the year, the Monday Coed league in particular can really use the 2 weeks saved since we don't schedule games on Memorial Day or Labor Day.

Re: League Leaders
Thanks, Les! RUNC is a great statistic which estimates the number of runs a hitter contributes to their team. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runs_created Just to remind folks how RUNC (runs created) is calculated in SBA: RUNC = (TB + 0.26BB + 0.52SACF) x OBP In SBA, RUNC is also used to determine all...

Draft League Format
I'm just tossing out this idea while we're spitballing here. What about a draft league - that is, one where managers choose their team through a draft process much like we do for the 1-pitch tournaments? In all likelihood, you would end up with a very balanced league over the course of an 8-game reg...

Les - You'll know that you really can't catch a break if the Pick 3 number is 290 (or 790)!

Re: Labor Day 1-Pitch 2021 Tournament Teams
Offensively, Greg Guarino and John Graves are clearly the closest alternates to Derek Muhl. In fact, based solely on the statistics I see above (I have never met nor seen either of them play), their offensive outputs are nearly identical to each other. But I think Les is also considering the defensi...

Re: Labor Day 1-Pitch 2021 Tournament Teams
Jason McLaughlin appears on both Teams 4 and 8. Perhaps one of them should be James McLaughlin?

Re: Sunday/Wednesday Coed Stats/Recaps
Very glad to hear you're back in the saddle, Joe! Great job getting the standings and stats current so quickly. One thing missing though are the two games from the rain-shortened evening at the Quarry on June 30th (Chico's Bail Bonds vs. Booze Hounds, Custom Cabinetry Finishes vs. Wu Tang Forever). ...

Statistical Curiosity
A statistical curiosity has occurred that I don't think I've ever seen before. Going into yesterday's Wednesday Evening Coed games, I realized that if the team with the better record won each game, the standings would work out exactly from top to bottom 8-0, 7-1, 6-2, 5-3, 4-4, 3-5, 2-6, 1-7, 0-8. C...

Re: Opening Day 2020
I think that the proposed modifications to how we play softball all sound reasonable and workable. Thanks for your thought and preparation, Les! I did want to ask for clarification on two points though: 1. "The all-star eddie requirement (for each all-star there must be an equal number of eddie...

Re: Scorekeeper's Corner
Thanks for the quick answer. No doubt there are a number of eddies in the league for whom a Hatfield homer is a gentle poke - Warren Grant, Nick Mancini, Carl Motts, Jr., John Connors, and Jackie Tarulli to name a few. But I wouldn't say we're seeing an epidemic at this point.

Hatfield over-the-fence home runs hit by an eddie
Les - Do over-the-fence home runs hit at Hatfield by an eddie (male or female) count against the per-game limit of three? During a number of games I've played at Hatfield this year, they have not been counted against the limit. But with eddies achieving this feat more regularly, it would be good to ...

Re: All-Star Formulation
Les, I appreciate that you asked the league for input on this. I hope that the feedback you received was useful. My take on this all of this, some of which I have already shared with Les: - Out of a list of 100 players for men's and a list of 100 for coed, the fact that there is 90% congruence in bo...

New All-Star Formula
Congratulations to all of the award winners! Les – Thank you as always for compiling the magazine – I look forward to its publication every year.
