Re: Rules when lightning is present

There are no strict rules on lightning, much like there are no strict rules on ball field playing conditions. There are only guidelines and umpire judgment. We have always used 15 minutes as a guideline. No lightning in 15 minutes, play ball. ASA of PA President Jeff Sell suggested to me 20 minutes....

Re: Thursday Evening Men's / Summer 2018

The postponed Hatfield game from 8/2 has been rescheduled as part of a triple header on 8/16. A consent to play a triple header was obtained from the team manager. To make room for this triple header, the 6 vs. 7 game has been moved from 7:00 Hatfield to 6:30 Quarry.

Re: Over 40 Men's League

Any special rules in mind? All plays at home are a force? No sliding, allow base overruns? Extra foul for eddies? No force at home unless the bases are loaded. Sliding and slide or surrender. No base overruns unless at 1B or home when there is no play there. No extra foul balls. No such thing as an...

There appears to be good interest. If there is enough interest, Opening Day will be September 9th.

Re: Over 40 Men's League

How about opening it up to women over 40, too? That would mean turning it into a coed league. We can't get enough females of any age for coed, let alone over 40. If there are 48 or more over-40 females out there interested in playing, I would be happy to set up an over-40 women's league. The Sunday...

Over 40 Men's League

If you are interested in playing in an over 40 men's league on Sunday afternoons at the Quarry, either fill out a full team or free agent form located below as soon as possible. If we can get enough interest, we will give it a go. Free Agent Form Full Team Form It was brought to my attention the for...

Re: Heritage Creek Night (Glow) Golf 2018

Thus far a total of 3 foursomes have registered for glow golf. I know it's early, but I can't help but feel I got suckered into it this year. Last year's turnout was less than full. I wondered if maybe some of the glow golf luster had worn off. I wasn't going to do it this year until a bunch of peop...

Marsh Family 1-Pitch Tournament / Raffle Baskets

Hi Les- I was wondering if you would be able to post on the website about raffle baskets. Rhiannon Keppley and myself would like to collect baskets that are being donated sooner rather than later (unless perishable). We want to be able to type up descriptions for the tournament and make sure we hav...

Re: Horsham Township Ball Fields

If I live to be 100 I will never understand the aforementioned mentality. I brought my car to the dealer for an oil change, tire rotation and inspection last week. I got the car back and the inspection stickers were applied to my windshield really crooked. I have to look at that every time I get beh...

Re: Horsham Township Ball Fields

While I'm at it, allow me to address the umpire situation. A league umpire was completely out of line recently. The issue was addressed and the umpire was suspended. One of the finest umpires I've seen in a while was working Thursday evenings. He usually works baseball, but couldn't get to those gam...

Re: Horsham Township Ball Fields

I was informed a while back that the Stover bases were not in good shape. Within a week I purchased new bases and personally delivered them to the field. It was then brought to my attention home plate had a tear in it and could pose a danger to players sliding home. I contacted Telford Borough and i...

Re: Horsham Township Ball Fields

Here's a response to a league member whose email I forwarded to the township... John, Thank you for reaching out. I will look into the two mentioned issues. Not sure if you were aware but I was recently hired on May 1st to take over the largest park and trail system in Montgomery County. Growing up ...

Horsham Township Ball Fields

The fields at Lukens Park are owned and operated by Horsham Township. The same holds true for Cedar Hill. Softball America leases those fields. We can prep the fields, but we cannot do any kind of major work on the fields. I have known about the loose bases, grass/weeds in the infield, and batter's ...

Re: Marsh Family 1-Pitch Tournament / Fall 2018

A perfect example just came in. At this point I have 36 eddies (8+28) - 4 more than the minimum. I have 4 core spots open. Bob Louderback (me) just registered. I will add him to the eddie count and remove 1 core spot - putting us at 37 (8+29) eddies and 67 (8+59) core. First come, first served.

Re: Marsh Family 1-Pitch Tournament / Fall 2018

We have 8 tandems consisting of 8 core and 8 eddies. I want to have a minimum of 4 eddies available for each team to draft. That would mean we need a total of 32 eddies. There are already 8 eddie managers so we need a minimum of 24 in the body of the draft. Yes, I originally had the core total at 64...
