Quarry Ball Field

Post by sixofdiamonds »

Not long ago we experienced some warm weather. Some people then decided they were going to go out to the Quarry ball field and take some batting practice without any kind of permission. Because of this, we now have a couple of serious issues to contend with.

First, but not least, the warm weather thawed the field and made it very soft. In spite of this, the boneheads went out there and really chewed the infield up. Now that the ground is frozen, the footprints are like cement. Even when the infield thaws, it will take some heavy duty work to remove those impressions.

Secondly, and more importantly, the owners of the Quarry took note of people playing on the field. In that we do not have a lease for the ball field until March, the Quarry becomes vulnerable to a liability issue if someone should get hurt. This is the last thing the Quarry or Softball America needs. If this continues, the Quarry will take action and we could lose the field. Losing the field would mean 54 teams would be without a place to play. If you want to practice at the Quarry ball field come March, email the league office for permission. And please... STAY OFF THE FIELD IF IT IS SOFT.

Thank you,
Les

This is why we can't have nice things.... Bunch of knuckleheads ruin it for the rest of us.
