From The Gutter / Week 1

Post by sixofdiamonds »

Well folks, Sunday Evening Bowling is off and running. The start is good with a full field of 32 teams at the post. 31 teams left the gate as Team 18 (The Aristocats) failed to show.

Down on the rail, Bob Garges and his Pin Setters topple JPH 5-2. Not much to speak of as far as games over average.

A shorthanded Big Heads takes the first 2 games, but Split Happens rallies late for 3 points, which included a 5 pin win for total wood. Bernie Marsh’s 215 in G3 was the difference.

In 3 very close matches, the Dirtballs shutout a shorthanded Split Heads 7 to zip. Dirtballs took all 3 games by a total of 22 pins. Chip Bowers tossed a 33-over G3.

A shorthanded Incredibowls tops Beers ‘N Balls 5-2 on Brittany Ullman’s 77-over 206.

Wu-Tang Forever takes 5 of 7 from Suds. Sean Przychowicz impresses with a 257/641.

That’s What She Said edges Gutter Humiliation 4-3. Ho-hum bowling on both sides of the ball return.

10-Pin Commandments got their butts beat 7-0 as Stewart Smith tosses 3 games over average for The Nines.

Going down to the wire, Finger Poppin takes 4 of 7 from Pete Rose Hits on 16.

Glory Bowl takes 7 from a no-show Aristocats. I’m in the process of checking to see if the bowling center calculated the forfeit correctly. (When teams bowl vs. a no-show team, it’s not an automatic 7-0 win. They must still bowl against the no-show player averages -10 pins. If the no-show team wins a game, they do not get credit for the win. A team bowling vs. a no-show team could win, let’s say, 5-0 if they don’t sweep all 7 points.)

JGB, Inc. tops Mind in the Gutter 5-2 with help from a 33-over 178 by Bryan Bart. 3 games over average by Tom McCarthy not enough to avoid the shutout.

Gang Green manages to win 5 from Shut up and Roll. Wayne Wiley with a 72 over average 188.

The Motts family (PC Squared) upends 2-time champs No Name 5-2 on Patty Motts’ 3 games over average.

Little Lebowski Urban Achiever edges past The Bowling Stones 4-3. Greg O’Brien flashes a 52-over 243. Matt Burns’ 3 games over (228/589) saves the 3-point play for TBS.

The Worthingtons (Worthington and Sons) take out the whoopin’ stick on a shorthanded Mixed Nutz. 3 games over by Bob W. (682) led the Worthington charge. Jeff Giulian did his part for Mixed Nutz by tossing 3 over, but it’s tough to overcome 2 bowlers short.

PPB ekes by Pocket Pounders 4-3. Not much to speak of in the match-up other than a 33-over 182 by Tom Zintner that went for naught.

Straight Shooters wallop Tom's Lawn Service 7-0. The other half of the Worthington entry will need to get used to the new boards.

As I suspected, Week 1 stats for Glory Bowl were not factored correctly. In the end, Glory Bowl won 2 games and total pins for 5 points. Their record in the standing should read 5 wins-2 losses. It did read 7-0. Now it shows 5-0. That will be amended shortly.
