Week 2: The calm before the storm (actually I take it back… after last year we are good without any storms or weather related instances in SBA)... disregard.. Umm hey look SOFTBALL

Game 1: Dark Horse v One Hit Wonders

After a scoreless first inning between these two monsters of mid-horsham, Alex Amador gets the scoring started for DH as he laces a double and scores on a Mike Montemuro RBI single. Bill Groff would answer the run with a run as his singles combined with two errors knotted the score at 1. Dark Horse would recapture the lead in the 3rd as a single and error combined with a Paul Ferruzzi double sparked the offense to score 3 runs. Storming back the Wonders plate four of their own in the bottom have of the inning by way of singles, walks, and a Colby Schoeller triple with an error (which he is personally counting as a dinger). Walks and singles once again would be the weapon of choice for DH as they use a gaggle of them to plate 3 more runs in the 4th. Jesse Grasso and Andy Springer proved to be a double dipping duo for the OHWs in the bottom half of the inning plating 3 runs with their knocks. They would follow that up in the 5th inning as they are able to plate 5 more runs via the single, a Rob Gisondi double and Jared Owens three-bagger. DH, down but not out would battle back to plate 4 runs of their own in the top of the 6th via doubles from Brian Semensila, and Paul Ferruzzi, combined with a triple from Dave Ketterlinus. In the top of the 7th the Horses surged into a tie score as singles pushed across two runs. In the bottom of the 7th Andy Springer dropped a monster triple to more or less put the game away as two intentional walks would load the bases for Jared Owens to play hero with a smoked singles to put the game away.

Final Score: OHW 14 - DH 13

Game 2: Ballz Deep v Insurance Runs

In an early season rivalry game, Ballz Deep and the Insurance Runs lit up the quarry scoreboard. In the top of the 1st a combination of 4 singles and 2 errors propelled BD to an early 5-0 lead. 5 consecutive hits beginning with a Josh Hannum double and a Brandon Quinn triple would help IR knot the score in the early going. For the 3rd half inning a row, a team would score 5 runs, with it being Ballz Deep doing the booty slapping by way of singles and a monster Gene Walcizzle double. IRs bucked the trend in the bottom of the 2nd, scoring a whopping 6 runs to take the lead, in large part due to a Habanero Hanna homer, combined with doubles from Mattleman, Hickey and Hannum. Ballz Deep was really into the 5 run an inning thing as they scored 5 more runs in the top of the 3rd, this time with assistance from walks, errors and another Geno two bagger. Habanero Hanna continued his torrid hitting streak as he would crush another homer, this time combined with a Ryan Kiskerno triple to plate 6 more for IR. Four singles for BD would plate an upside down 5 in the 4th inning as they push two runs across. A Beatty/Hanna double sandwich combined with a Hannum triple would score three more for IRs in the bottom half of the 4th, while a Kiskerno homer would push across two more in the 5th. Heading into the 6th Ballz Deep would try to slug their way back into the game as a Jason Falcone triple, combined with a plethora of singles would plate 3 more runs, but that would be all they could manage as this one ends early due to the time limit.

Final Score: IR 22 - BD 20

Game 3: Misfits v Yankee Clippers

The Yankee Clippers would take an early lead an a single and two errors plate a run in the bottom of the 1st. The 2nd and 3rd innings would belong to the Misfits. In the 2nd, they would push across a staggering 5 runs by way of the single, a Jimmy Cooker double and a triple off the bat of Chris Quinn. Following that up they would plate 3 more in the 3rd as singles paved the way for Tim Graf to smack a 2 RBI triple and score one batter later. The Clipps would battle back in the 5th and 6th inning as they are able to get a run in the 5th via a double from Mike O’Conner and a run in the 6th on a sac fly. The Misfits would close the door on any ideas of a comeback in the top of the 7th as Rico Jones smacked a bases loaded grand salami to put the game out of reach. Kai Browner would answer with a solo blast in the bottom half of the inning but that would be as close as the Yankee Clippers could get in this one.

Final Score: Misfits 13 - YC 4

Game 4: Misfits v Sons of Pitches

Sons of pitches battled hard and got stand out performances from leadoff hitting AJ Bagushask and Brett Koszczyk as both men went 2-3 on the day. Joe Ciamietro would single and score for the Sons in the 2nd inning. This game belongs to the Misfits though. In the 1st, they would plate 7 runs on triples from Jimmy Cooker and Joe Torres combined with a Glen Davis homer. They would plate 4 more in the 2nd on errors and a Torres three bagger. A Glen Davis triple combined with singles would plate 2 more in the 3rd. Clearly not going station to station yet, the 4th inning saw them score a rough and tumble 5 runs as Glen Davis smacked another triple and both Tim Groff and Tommy O’Neill doubled. In the 5th, still not holding back, 7 consecutive batters would reach base and score for the Misfits, led by another Groff double and a double from Davis.

Final Score: Misfits 25 - SOP 1
