B North 4/28

The only battle bigger than the battle for Winterfell, and arguably more bloody sliding on these fields, is the battle for B North. Lets take a look at week three as we continue on the road to finding out spring King.

Game 1: Ballz Deep v Misfits

The men of Ballz Deep took an early lead in this one as they pounded home 6 runs on seven singles and a mean Gene Walczak double. The Misfits would cut into the deficit with a run in the bottom half of the inning via singles and a fielder’s choice. The 2nd and the 3rd inning also belonged to Ballz Deep as they score 5 more runs over that time by was of a Sean Butrica sac fly in the 2nd and doubles from Carr, Brancato and McDevitt helping plate 4 in the 3rd. Geno would plate another run for BD in the top of the 4th but was caught cheating and left the bag early for the last out of the inning. No leads allowed Gene, you have plenty of wheels to score on a single. 3 singles and a Dan Cripps double would plate 3 for the Misfits in the bottom half of the inning to cut into the deficit. Fireworks would go off for both teams in the 7th inning as Soup Campbell smoked and RBI double and Jacob McDevitt crushed a homer for Ballz Deep to score 4 runs and the Misfits got 5 of their own by way of a Zach Downs double and a 3 run bomb from Rico Jones.

Final Score: BD 16 - M 9

Game 2: One Hit Wonders v Sons of Pitches

The OHWs got control early in this one and never looked back. They scored a whopping 13 runs in the first inning as Andy Springer, Jack Stepnowski and Colby Schoeller doubled, Springer tripled, Mike Trivino and Schoeller crushed homers, and Jesse Grasso smoked a grand slam. They were only able to scratch out 7 runs in the 2nd inning as their legs were tired from baserunning, highlighted by triples from Josh Parker and Jason Hammer, as well as another Springer double. Their scoring dramatically fell off in the 3rd inning as they only manage 2 runs via a single and a Schoeller double. Sons of Pitches scored runs in the 2nd and third innings via singles. Brett Keszczyk led the way for the SOPs with a 2 for 2 day as he smoked balls for singles in both of his at bats. The runs came via a sac fly from Brandon Brooks and a fielder’s choice.

FInal Score: OHWs 22 - SOP 2

Game 3: Yankee Clippers v Dark Horse

The Clippers get the party started with 3 runs in the top of the first via five singles. Answering with a bunch of sac flies, DH knots the score in the bottom half of the inning. In the top of the 2nd the Clips would plate a whopping 6 runs on five doubles by Mike McDevitt, Andrew Hesdon, Rich Brazukas, Nick Manini and Andrew Breiscraft. After the double show, the next 3 innings would belong to DH. They plate 5 in the 2nd on walks, singles, and doubles from Paul Ferruzzi and Bill Jones, 3 in the 3rd on doubles from Alex Amador and Ferruzzi, and 6 in the 4th on a host of singles and another set of doubles from Amafor and Ferruzzi. A Breiscraft double would help get the Clips back on the scoreboard as they plate a run in the top of the 5th. Walks and a fielder’s choice would match that run for DH in the bottom of the inning. In the 6th and final inning, the YC score 5 runs to cut into the deficit as singles combined with Snyder and Briescraft doubles help the cause, but DH is able to hammer 3 runs home to lock the door and close the shades as the ump ends it on time.

FInal Score: DH 21 - YC 15

Game 4: Insurance Runs v Yankee Clippers

The Yankee Clippers get on the board in the bottom of the first as Brian McGuire smacked a two run dinger to give them an early lead. Three singles cut the deficit in the top of the 2nd as the Insurance Runs finally get on the board. The Insurance Runs would knot the score in the top of the 4th as Habanero Hanna smacked an RBI single. Retaking the lead in the bottom of the inning the YCs got a run via a Rob Shuck laser beam of a liner. In this back and forth battle the IRs would jump ahead in the top of the 5th as Dan Miller and Joe Rowan both smoke RBI doubles. Not going away, the YCs would tie the score in the bottom half by way of two fielder’s choices and a Lonnie Snyder two bagger. In the bottom of the 7th with the score knotted at 4, the YCs got a monster leadoff triple from Nick Wasekanes which opened the door for Andrew Breiscraft to play hero and end this one with a single.
