Game 1 – Baron Von Fritz at Hambinos
Baron struck first blood in the top of the first, plating 2 on a handful of singles. The Hambinos swung back in a big way in the bottom half, starting the game with 3-straight singles and capping the inning with an RBI double from Joe Pizzola and an RBI single from Ed Hainsworth. 5 runners scored in all.
Baron got one back in the third on a Brendon Burrows sac fly and then tied the score, 5-5, in the fifth as Chris Salanik led the inning off with a double and later scored.
Joe Pizzola delivered a sac fly in the bottom of the fifth, giving the Hambinos the lead one more. But then in the sixth, Gary Brown would single in a run for Baron to tie the game, and then Tom Montvydes would score on an error in the seventh. The Hambinos couldn’t muster a comeback in the top half, and the underdogs prevailed.
Final Score: Baron Von Fritz 7 Hambinos 6
Player of the Game: Tom Montvydes was in the middle of everything for Baron, going 3 for 4 with 3 Runs Scored.

Game 2 – Isotopes at Jackhammers
The Jackhammers exploded in the bottom of the first, using 2 singles and 3 walks to open the game before a single out was recorded. Later in the inning, Chris Day smashed a 2-RBI double to help plate 6 in all. They added 2 more in the second via 3 singles, expanding the lead to 8-0.
The Isotopes finally got on the board in the third, using 4 singles to score 3 runs before the Jackhammers saw 4 players walk to open the bottom half. Two straight RBI singles helped knock in 4, expanding the Jackhammer lead to 12-3.
In the fifth, the Isotopes started to fight back. Joe Cremen’s RBI double and Colin Snyder’s RBI triple helped score 3, but then Dan Jensen led off the bottom half for the Hammers with a triple and would later score an insurance run.
Down 13-6, the Isotopes managed just a single baserunner in each the sixth and seventh, falling to the higher-seeded Jackhammers.
Final Score: Jackhammers 13 Isotopes 6
Player of the Game: Christ Day went 1 for 2 with a walk, a double, 2 RBIs and a Run Scored.

Game 3 – Baron Von Fritz at Expendables
Baron didn’t let the downtime between games slow them down, as their offense clicked beginning with Craig Stewart’s leadoff double in the first. Later in the inning, Tom Montvydes would provide an RBI double and 2 would score on each Evan Porter and Brandon Rock’s singles. 6 crossed the dish in all. Jon Beard led off the bottom half with a double of his own, but he’d be the only Expendable to score in the frame.
Dan Keith chipped in a 2-RBI single in the second to extend the Baron lead to 8-1, and then Brandon Rock and Dan Keith double in the third, expanding the lead to 13-1. In the bottom of the third, Joe Kindt smashed a 3-run bomb to make it a single-digit deficit once more.
Baron would continue adding to their lead, plating 3 in the fourth thanks to Chris Salanik’s RBI double, 1 in the sixth complements of Craig Stewarts RBI double, and 1 in the seventh on Evan Porter’s solo homer.
Down 18-4, the Expendables had to reach down deep in the bottom of the seventh. Joe Weeks led off the inning with a triple. Then two singles and a walk followed, scoring 1 and loading the bases with no outs. But a sac fly and a pop out quickly made the task that much more daunting. Dan Altemus would knock in 2 with his triple and then score one play later on Joe Kindt’s RBI double, but then Matt Keller would ground out to end the game.
Final Score: Baron Von Fritz 18 Expendables 9
Player of the Game: In a losing effort, Joe Kindt had himself a game, going 2 for 3 with a sac fly, double, homerun, 5 RBIs and a Run Scored.

Game 4 – Jackhammers at Hattricks
This one got ugly in a hurry, as the Jackhammers turned 2 walks and 3 singles into 5 first inning runs. They tacked on 2 more in the second on Mike Zhradnick’s 2-RBI double, 2 more in the third on Jason Cooper’s 2-RBI single, and then 5 more in the fourth via a handful of singles, walks, a costly error, and a timely RBI triple from Christ Day.
Down 14-0, Hattricks finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth as Tyler Roetman led things off with a double. He and Ron Gallagher would go on to score in the inning.
The Jackhammers weren’t done, getting insurance runs from Tom Finn in the fifth and Tom Lydon, who doubled, in the sixth.
Staring at a 16-2 deficit, Hattricks put just one man on base in the bottom of the seventh and went out with a wimper.
Final Score: Jackhammers 16 Hattricks 2
Player of the Game: The Toms – Finn and Lydon – combined to go 7 for 8 plus a walk with a double, 2 RBIs and 7 Runs Scored for the Jackhammers.
