B North - Opening Day

Twas a blustery start to the B North season, as the open field of Cedar Hill provided a sunny yet chilly backdrop for the beginning of another year of softball. The B North looks to be as competitive as ever as many of the teams are former champions and have beefed up their rosters for another run at softball glory.

The X-Phils started the game on a torrid pace as they were able to score 5 runs in the top of the first inning by way of 5 singles, 2 errors and a Brendon Burrows RBI double. After each team would go scoreless in their next at bats, the OHWs stormed back to knot the score at 5 in the bottom of the 2nd inning as five singles and three walks did the damage. In the bottom of the 3rd the OHWs would begin to pull away with this one as a single and an error led to a huge Rob Gisondi 2 RBI single to make the score 7 to 5. The OHWs would get the scoring machine revved up again in the 5th inning as four singles and a sac fly would score two more runs. Capping the day and the win, a single and a Dan Martin double would help push across the final run of the day for OHWs as they would coast to a 10 to 5 win.

The IRs got their big bats going in the bottom half of the 2nd as they would deficit in half, scoring four runs on singles, walks, and a Keith Meduzia bases clearing double. 3 singles a walk and a fielder's choice would tack on another run in the top of the 3rd for the Bulldogs but the IRs were able to hammer out another four runs in the bottom half of the inning by way of four singles and a Joe Rowan double to make it a 9-8 game. Answering the bell in the bottom half of the 7th the IRs got two singles and an RBI double from Matt Freedman, paving the way for Bill McElroy to play hero as he would smoke a two RBI single to walk off with a win for the IRs. Final score: 13-12 in a thriller.

Game 3: Ballz Deep v Snipers

Ballz Deep got the party started early, plating three runs in the top of the first on three singles, two walks, and two fielder’s choices including one my lean and lanky Gene Walczak. Finally unleashing their offensive arsenal, the Snipers fired back in the bottom of the 6th as they would score four runs via a huge two RBI double from Dave Shannon and an RBI triple from Chris Fitzgerald. With the score 9 to 4 both teams would not be able to get much going in the 7th and the Bulldogs would come out on top.
