Game 1: Amber Inn vs. Holding Hands with Hookers

Amber inn jump out to a quick six run lead in the top of the first thanks to RBI doubles from Phil Klatch, Mike Haberle, and Cory Carlen. They follow that up in the second with seven runs thanks to Mike Haberle launching a Grand Slam. HHWH respond in the bottom of the second by hitting four singles and taking advantage of an error to score three runs driven in by Joe Tulino and Kurt Siegel. In the top of the third, Bryon McMacin tripled and was driven in by Kevin Noone, adding a run ro Amber Inn’s total. In the bottom of the frame, HHWH match that run as Miles Davis drove in Dan Owens on a base knock. Amber Inn add one in the top of the fourth on back to back doubles from Phil Klatch and Bruce Snyder, then add two more in the fifth on a pair of errors and a pair of doubles from Mike Haberle and Bryon McMacin. In the top of the sixth, Amber Inn continued to add to their total with a leadoff homer from Phil Klatch, a double from Marc McKinney, and a two run dinger from Mike Haberle. Paul Rainer ripped a double and scored on a Brett Rumer single to add another run for HHWH, but they’d fall woefully short of a comeback this week. Amber Inn take down Holding Hands with Hookers 22-5.

Game 2: Philly’s Phinest vs. Amber Inn

Amber Inn continue hitting in their second game of the day, batting around in the bottom of the first with five singles, RBI doubles from John Graves and Cory Carlen, and two run triples from Dave Graves and Kevin Noone totalling nine runs. In the top of the second, Justin Scarinci of Philly’s Phinest responds by driving in two runs on a single. Amber Inn keep it up in the bottom of the frame, riding doubles from Bill Harper and Kevin Noone and a triple from Mike Haberle to four runs. A sac fly plates the only run for Philly’s Phinest in the top of the third. In the bottom of the third, Dave Graves smacked a two run big fly for Amber Inn as they tack on another three runs. The next inning, Philly’s Phinest hit four singles and get an RBI triple from Mike Rocks Sr. as they score two. Amber Inn keep scoring in the bottom of the fourth a Dave Graves ripped a double to help tack on three more. In the fifth, Philly’s Phinest go down 1-2-3, then Cory Carlen produces a leadoff dinger to enact the mercy rule. Amber Inn crush Philly’s Phinest 20-5.

Game 3: Philly’s Phinest vs. Dirty Dozen

Philly’s Phinest waste no time getting on the board, plating one in the top of the first on a Tony Summers double. Dirty Dozen answer back quickly with five hits to leadoff the bottom of the frame including a three run blast from Nick Vitelli and a two run big fly from Angelo Vitantonio. In the top of the second, Philly’s Phinest have another one run outing when Fran Kober walked and later scored on a sac fly. Dirty Dozen keep rolling in the second, taking advantage of an error, a double from Kyle Landis, and a two run bomb from James McHale, plating three. RBI singles from Ed Rocks and Mike Repici help Philly’s Phinest score two and double their total in the top of the third. In the home half, Dirty Dozen put four more on the board as Bill Brancato, Todd Gibson, and Jamie Glennon all chip in RBIs. In the top of the fourth, Fran Kober drives in Philly’s Phinest’s only run. After two quiet innings, Dirty Dozen get two more on the board in the bottom of the sixth on a Kyle Landis double and a sac fly. Needing nine runs to tie it up, Philly’s Phinest get a run singled in by Mike Rocks, Jr. but wouldn’t be able to create any more than that. Philly’s Phinest falls again, this time to Dirty Dozen 14-6.

Lukens III

Game 3: Santucci’s vs. The Tropics

Santucci’s draw first blood with a run in the top of the first as Joe Carpino ripped a triple, then scored. Tropics respond by taking the lead with four runs on a sac fly and RBI doubles from Rick Brauning and Bryan McMenamin. Santucci’s come out in the second and plate a pair with John Boyle contributing an RBI base hit, closing the gap to one. In the bottom of the second, Tropics double their output with four more on a walk, an error, three singles, and back to back doubles from John Norman and Rick Brauning. The next inning, they keep rolling, adding five more by taking advantage of three walks and hitting a pair of timely singles. In the top of the fourth, Mike Washeleski singled in Bob McHugh to plate one run for Santucci’s. In the bottom of the frame, Tropics add three more runs ona walk, a pair of fielder’s choices, and four singles. In the fifth, Tropics hold their opponents off the board, then take advantage of an error and a walk, and throw in three singles to enact the mercy rule before Santucci’s can get them out of the inning. The Tropics subdue Santucci’s and win 19-4.

Man of the Match: Rick Brauning (2-3, 3 R, BB, 2-2B, 3 RBI)


Game 4: Misfits vs. Billy Goats

Misfits jump out to an early lead with a five run frame in the top of the first, with Joe Torres smoking a three run triple and Nick Perez roping a two run double. In the top of the second, they plate three more on doubles from Glen Davis and Joe Torres. Misfits continue to score thanks to a walk, three singles, and consecutive doubles from Joe Torres, Chris Quinn, and Rico Jones. In the top of the seventh, Chris Quinn leads off the inning with a double, Jeff Castelli slaps a base knock, and Jim Cash rips a triple to plate two and end their day of hitting with a 16 run lead. Refusing to give up, Billy Goats get a leadoff walk, force an error, and get a single from Kris Most as they get on the board with a run in the final frame. Misfits take down Billy Goats 16-1.
