Game 1: Insurance Runs v Snipers

The insurance runs get on the board first as they score two runs in the top of the 1st via three singles and an error. Firing back, the Snipers pushed across four runs in the bottom half of the inning as Dave Shannon and Joe Frederick both doubled in runs. Another Shannon double would score a run for the Snipers in the 2nd as they score two to increase their lead to 6-2. Four singles, a sac fly, and Joe Rowan triple plate four for the IRs and knot the score in the top of the 3rd. Continuing to hammer the yellow pill, the Snipers cranked home 6 runs in the bottom half of the 3rd, led by a Keith Lawrence triple, another Shannon double (his third of the game) and a plethora of singles. Down 6, the IRs got 6 in the top of the 4th as singles, a 3 run homer from Rick Leonchi, and a triple from Brian Leonetti did the damage. Each team would get a single run in the 5th via the double as Matt Freedman smoked one for the IRs while both Finns and Keith Lawrence smacked them for the Snipers. Heading to the 7th tied, the IRs score 2 courtesy of doubles from cinco-de-Shano Hanna and Matt Hickey to take their first lead since the first inning. Down two the Snipers continued to hammer the ball in this one as they knock home 3 runs to win the game in large part do to a leadoff triple from Tom Finn and a walkoff two RBI single from Joe Frederick.

Final score: Snipers 16- IRs 15

Game 2: Dark Horse v X-Phils

Dark Horse came out sloshing the ball as they would plate three runs in the first inning via a Mike Montemaro double and some singles, five huge runs in the 2nd in large part due to Alex Amador smoking a two RBI double and Paul Ferruzzi doubling as well, and in the third they would add two more runs on walks and a Dave Ketterlaw double. The bottom of the 3rd and the 4th inning would belong to the X-Phils as they would plate two runs in the 3rd courtesy of a Steve Pfeifer double and a Dave Iatrola homer and two more runs in the bottom of the 4th as Will Eagles doubled and three straight singles pushed the runs home. Not deterred by the comeback, Dark Horse would put the game away in the top of the 5th as they would bat around to the tune of 10 runs. In the rally, Mike Montemaro doubled, Alex Amador tripled, Ryan Schock cranked a grand slam, and every player on the team reached base and scored.

Final Score: Dark Horse 20 - XPhils 4

Game 3: One Hit Wonders v The Yankee Clippers

In a strange one, the One Hit Wonders jumped out to an early lead as they would score 10 runs over the first four innings, highlighted by a Schoeller double, and a double and homer from Andy Springer. The Yankee Clippers got a run via a Nick Wasekanes double and a Kai Browner triple. Apparently a player was playing under the wrong name for the Yankee Clippers and it was figured out in the 4th inning so the game was called and ended in a forfeit.

Final score: OHW 7 - Yankee Clippers 0

Game 4: Ballz Deep v Bulldogs

Softball is a strange game. Sometimes scores jump into the 30’s, while others they stay under 5 and become intense defensive struggles. This was a game of the later of these situations. Ballz Deep got on the scoreboard first in the top of the 4th as Tom Campbell singled and scored. They would extend their lead by one in the top of the 5th thanks to doubled from Andrew Trout and Brian Carr. In the top of the 6th, the Deepers continued their scoring ways, this time pushing across two runs as mean, lean Gene Walczak and Jeff Judge both smoked doubles. In the bottom of the 7th the Bulldogs attempted a miracle comeback as they are able to score runs via a double from Dave Nagle and a two RBI single from Anthony DePaul, but they would be all they could muster on this day.

Final Score: Ballz Deep 4 - Bulldogs 2
