B North 5/16

I pulled up to Carpenter around 7 or 8 and I yelled at the ump til he said “yo homes smell ya lata” I looked at the website, I was finally there, on the list of ejected players to my team’s despair. (If you sing it like Will Smith it sounds way cooler)

Game 1: One Hit Wonders v Bulldogs

The Wonders started the day with a two spot in the first via a Jesse Grasso double. They would tack on another run as Jack Stepnowski doubled and scored in the 2nd. The 3rd inning would see 7 runs cross the white pentagon led by another Stepnowski double and a homer from Andy Springer. Errors would account for two runs in the 5th and a monster 2 RBI triple from Rob Gisondi would plate 3 in the 6th. Singles would give the OHWs an all important run in the 7th as this game would go extra innings. In the 8th, Jack Stepnowski would once again be the man with dynamite in his bat as his triple helped plate three runs.
The Bulldogs would use doubles from Mike Suda and Anthony Bates to knot the score in the first. The third inning brought another rally as the Dogs bat around plating six runs highlighted by doubles from John Hogan and Bates. Doubles from the dynamic duo would also plate a run in the 4th. Errors and a double from Peter Burns added another run in the 5th. The 6th and 7th innings saw 6 runs cross via the single to knot the score and send the game to extras. Down 4, the Bulldogs were able to hammer away and cut the lead to 1 on a Mark Sivel double but that was all they could muster in this one.

FInal Score: Wonders 20 - Bulldogs 19

Game 2: Dark Horse v Wire2Wire

In a battle of B North Titans, Dark Horse got the party started with a four run first inning with 4 runs on singles. They would add another run in the 3rd via a double from Jason Hudacheck. In the bottom half of the innings things went awry as an injury to Paul Ferruzzi Jr hampered the Horses the rest of the way. They were only able to muster a run in the 4th on singles, a run in the 6th on a solo homer from Paul Harding and a run in the 7th on a Ryan Schock double.
Wire2Wire plates 5 in the top of the 1st via doubles from Joe Dimezzo and Matt Huhn. They would light up the scoreboard again in the Tom Segura (no relation to the comedian) doubled, Gene Walczak tripled and the Matt’s Huhn and Nixon hit back to back homers capping a 4 run outburst. They would add another run in the 5th on singles and another run in the 6th by way of a Matt Wass triple. Clearly Dark Horse had no chance in this one with a back to back to back Matt attack.

Final Score: Wire2Wire 12 - Dark Horse 8

Game 3: Dirty Dozen v Yankee Clippers

The DD’s would plate 3 in the top of the 1st on walks and fielder’s choices. They would fire up the scoring engine again in the 2nd by way of a Jarrett Kerns 3 run homer. In the top of the 4th back to back doubles from Ben Vitelli and Mike Ivers combined with a home run from John Curb lit up the scoreboard for 5 big runs. The use of many singles would plate two runs in the 5th inning and a Roc Akers two run bomb would plate another 2 in the 6th. Sean Taylor smacked a triple in the 7th to push another across for the double D’s. Also shout out to John Erb for the loss of his dog this past week. All of us here at SBA feel for you and send condolences.
The Yankee Clippers would use the walk and single to plate 5 huge runs in the bottom of the 1st. They would follow that up with another run in the 2nd via singles. Will “the thrill” Jensen cranked a two run bomb for the Clips in the 3rd to keep the scoring parade going. In the 5th, Kai Browner helped plate two runs as he cranks a leadoff double and scores. Singles and a bases loaded walk would help plate another for the Clips in the bottom of the 6th. Down 6 the Clips would add a run immediately as an error helped plate a run but that was as close as they would be able to get in this one.

Final Score: Dirty Dozen 17 - Yankee Clippers 12
