Game #1 –Dave and Confused vs. Birdgang

James McLaughlin starts the scoring on this Sunday with a bang after a three run bomb. Neither team scores for the next couple of innings as defense shines through. We pick it up in the fourth when Birdgang adds five more runs to make it a 9-0 game. Shawn Collins knocked in two on a double and Jason McLaughlin knocks in two on a two run bomb. Confused finally get going in the sixth inning getting their first run on a Carl Ervin fielder’s choice. Marc McKinney then smashes the ball deep for a three run bomb. They keep it up in the seventh grabbing another three runs and getting this game to within three runs. Dave Graves and Sean Pena have a RBI double and triple respectfully. They would ultimately fall short in this one. Birdgang wins 11-8.

Game #2 – Hounds vs. Dirt Stars

Hounds jump up to an early 9-3 lead after this first couple of innings. Derek Croak had a two run single and Jordan Roman cleared the bases with a three run double for the Hounds while Jerry White had a two run double for Dirt Stars. Both teams go back and forth for a couple of innings before Hounds exploding in the sixth. Scott Roney, Kevin Convery and Manny Rodriguez all smash RBI singles in the inning and Rey Jimenez clears the bases with a grand slam. Hounds increase their lead even more with three more runs in the seventh making this a 25-8 games as we head into the bottom of the seventh with Dirt Stars really looking for a miracle. The whole team starts to hit as Dirt Stars start to crawl back into this game. John Boyle and Joe Carpino highlight with RBI doubles and Gary Brooks clears the bases with a double of his own. They get this game back all the way to within four runs, but that is where this game would end. Hounds win 25-21.

Game #3 – Palz vs. Sunday Scaries

Alex Freeman kicks off the scoring for Palz with an RBI double followed by RBI’s from Dave Nakoniecczny, Danny Freeman and Pete Herbert. Scaries answer back with a three run bomb off the bat of Josh Persing bringing them back to within one run. Palz net two more runs on Danny Freeman fielder’s choice and Leo Pagan RBI single. Scaries answer back and tie the game in the fourth with three runs off a Kris Caraba RBI single and two run single from Andrew Coates. Palz take the lead back with five runs in the fifth. Freeman was back at it again with a two run double. Bob Jacob also had an RBI triple. Scaries come back again and take the lead in the sixth as they explode for eight runs. Dave McLaughy smashed a grand slam in the inning to really pace the inning. Scaries will hold on in this one and win late. Scaries win 14-11.

Game #4 – Hambinos vs. MaGerk’s Pub

Hambinos come out hot and score 10 runs in the first couple of innings. Nick Heller, Mark Peasley, Bob Gower, Pat Tobin and Mike Mulvihill all had RBI singles across the two innings. Mark Peasley also added an RBI double, his second hit of the game. MaGerks answers back in the second with seven runs of their own and brings them to within two. Jeff Tongue and Brian Hilbert had RBI doubles in the inning. Not much happens until we get to the fifth and MaGerks takes the lead. Danny Nicholson had an RBI double and John Green knocked in one on an RBI triple. Hambinos get a couple back in the bottom of the inning, but MaGerks come right back in the next inning. Rich Houser and Jimmy Molloy smack a two run double and RBI single respectfully as Chris Rommel knocks in one on a double.

Game #5 – Morning Wood vs. Hambinos


Morning Wood grabs two runs in the first inning before exploding for eight runs in the second. Steve Cox, Sean Valenza and Charlie Hooker all knock in a run on RBI singles and Matt Kahn and Matt Figueroa knock in a run on a double. Trevor Lane also added an RBI double in the inning. Morning Wood was back at it again with another big inning in the third, this time scoring six runs. Figueroa had another RBI, this time on a double and the Hooker brothers both have RBI singles as well. Morning Wood finishes this game early with three more runs in the fifth inning as they take this game by mercy rule. Morning Wood wins 19-4.
