B West Softball 6/13/21

Pitch, Please (A) vs HG Coal Fired Pizza (H)

In a clash of the TITANS for B West supremacy, this game is for the #1 seed. Pitch, Please got the scoring started with 2 runs in the 1st inning off a two out double by Joe Weeks and Brittingham and Larkin singles to bring them in. HG responded with 2 of their own with a double leading off the inning by Jay Stein and the SMASH brothers Andrew and Brendan with singles. 2-2 after 1. Dan Altemus and Joe Kindt help add another one with back to back doubles for Pitch, Please 3-2 after the 3rd inning. The 4th inning was the turning point in the game, Pitch, Please went 1,2,3 but HG Coal fired pizza dropped a BURGER on them in the bottom of the inning. After a couple of singles, Eric Cohen and Matt Messina hit back to back doubles to score 2, after a couple more singles, Jay Stein went YAHTZEE with a 3 run home run to lead to a 7 run 4th inning. That was the end of the scoring for this one as HG looked up the 1 seed.

HG Coal Fired Pizza - 10
Pitch, Please - 3

Game MVP(s) - Gotta be Jay Stein 2-4 with a leadoff double and a 3 run homer.

Cifelli's (A) vs Hattricks (H)

Cifelli's had a rough day at the plate scoring only 2 runs this game. The problem is Hattricks scored that in the 1st inning. Colin Murray and Josh Graef both tripled in the 1st inning. Christian Volger tripled to lead to 4 runs in the 2nd inning. Jordan G and Jim B doubled in the 3rd inning leading to two more runs. Hattricks added 5 more runs in the 5th inning off of 1 hit as Cifelli's pitcher struggled to find the strike zone. Hattricks rolled in this one.

Hattricks - 13
Cifelli's - 2

Game MVP(s) - Kris Cassel 2-3 with a walk.

Isotopes (A) vs Philly's Phinest (H)

Philly's Phinest started the game with some issues on the mound as they walked 5 of the first 6 hitters. Ray was a SAVAGE and brough a bunch of them in with a double to score 4 runs in the first. Philly's Phinest responded with a little more of the same, being patient at the plate drawing 3 walks and a couple singles to tie the game at 4 after 1. A couple singles in the 3rd got Isotopes 2 more runs taking a 5-3 lead. Back to Back doubles by senior Rocks and Dan McIntyre got Philly's Phinest a run back to make it 6-5 Isotopes. Didn’t I tell you that Ray was a SAVAGE? Because his 3 run bomb into the Hatfield trees gave Isotopes a 9-5 lead. With their playoff hopes on the line they got the first 2 guys on base but a strike out, off the bag double play put an end to Philly's Phinest and their season and got Isotopes their first and only win of the session.

Isotopes - 11
Philly's Phinest - 8

Game MVP(s) - Ray Savage - 2-5 with 5 RBI's

Philly's Phinest (A) vs Jackhammers (H)

Dan McIntyre not gonna quit on as his 1st inning double gave Philly's Phinest a 1-0 lead. Jackhammers however would control this game scoring 2 in the first and 5 in the 2nd just off of singles and walks. 7-1 after 2 inning. The 3rd inning was a blood bath, As the Jackhammers batted around scoring 9 off of walks, singles and a BIG Z 3 run blast and a Jeff Hess double. Jamie Johnson added a solo homer for good measure in the 4th. Jr Rocks doubled in a run and came around to score but it was too little too late as the Jackhammers win by Mercy Rule.

Jackhammers - 18
Philly's Phinest - 3

Game MVP(s) - BIG Z - Mike Zahradnick who was 4-4 with a 3 run bomb.

SCLSU Mud Dogs (A) vs Sons of Pitches (H)

A leadoff home run by Josh Figueroa got the Dogs on the board in the 1st. A leadoff home run by Paul Elliot got sons of pitches on the board in the 1st. Stop me if you've heard that line before. 1-1 after 1. Paul Elliot continued to slug the ball around yard doubling in 2 in the 2nd and then Dylan Brooks crushed a 2 run homer. Taking a 5-1 lead after 2 innings. After Sons of Pitches added 3 more to make it an 8-1 lead the Muddogs had a Halftime rally with Bobby Boucher himself! Big innings normally start with errors or the bottom of the order, this had both! A Double by Tony Figueroa a few walks, errors and a single loaded the bases for Josh Figueroa who already had a home run. He tripled in everyone and then Jason singled him home. Brian Figueroa than tripled home Jason scoring 8 runs in the inning taking a 9-8 lead. You can learn a lot from a team by how they respond to a big inning. Sons of Pitches RESPONDED with a big inning of their own, after a walk, 3 singles.. Mama their goes that man again.. Paul Elliot doubles to score some runs and THAN!!!!! Dylan Brooks triples the rest of them in scoring 6 to give them a lead they would not lose.

Sons of Pitches - 17
Mud Dogs - 9

Game MVP(s) - This was tough but I'll go with Paul Elliot who was 3-5 with 2 doubles and a home run!
