Game 1: The Tropics vs. Billy Goats

Billy Goats hold their opponents silent, then get on the board in the bottom of the first with five runs on a pair of walks and five singles. In the top of the second, The Tropics plate one run when Jay Mykrantz led off with a double and later scored. In the next inning, they plate five and take a one run lead thanks to Sean Rozzi clearing the bases with a double and with Rick Brauning launching a two run dinger. In the bottom of the frame, Billy Goats score five of their own with Matt Madel ripping a leadoff double, taking advantage of three errors, and Brian Ego driving in a pair on a double. The Tropics claw back three runs, cutting their deficit to one, thanks to a two run single from Sean Rozzi and doubles from Noah Mastin and Adam Schwartz. In the bottom of the fourth, Billy Goats keep pace again with a pair of walks and three singles to plate three. The next inning, The Tropics take back the lead and then some. They bat around on a walk, seven singles including a two run single from Jay Mykrantz and a three run knock from Shawn Thome, and doubles from Mark Guchiaris and Noah Mastin as they score eight runs and take the lead. In the top of the sixth, they tack on five more with John Norman providing a three run dinger for good measure. The Tropics outgun Billy Goats 22-13.

Man of the Match: Sean Rozzi (5-5, 3 R, 2-2B, 7 RBI)


Game 2: Misfits vs. Santucci’s

After a silent first inning, Misfits get a pair of walks, a two run triple from Jim Kash, and a Tommy O’Neill base knock in the top of the second to score three. In the top of the third, they tack on four more thanks in large part to Jim Kash ripping a double and Chris Quinn roping a triple, each driving in a run. In the bottom of the third, Tyler DiPietro launches a three run dinger to get Santucci’s on the board. The next inning, Santucci’s John Boyle knocked in their only run on a base hit. In the top of the fifth, Misfits draw a pair of walks, force an error, get a sac fly, get a two run double from Marc Ottinger, and an RBI triple from Jimmy Cooker as they plate six and extend their lead. Santucci’s scrape one run back in the bottom of the frame as Mike Washeleski led off with a single and later scored, but that would be the final run of the game. Misfits cruise to a win over Santucci’s 13-5.

Man of the Match: Jim Kash (2-3, 3 R, BB, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI)


Groveland

Game 1: Amber Inn vs. Dirty Dozen

This battle begins with a silent first inning, although Amber Inn squandered a bases loaded opportunity. They’d fair better in the top of the second as Mike Haberle started the inning off with a base knock, then scored on a sac fly. In the top of the fourth, Amber Inn opens their lead a bit more with a pair of runs on three singles, a fielder’s choice, and a John Graves double. In the bottom of the frame, Dirty Dozen get on the board and take the lead on a walk, six singles, and a two run triple off the bat of Angelo Vitantonio, totalling five. Amber Inn match them with five runs in the top of the fifth, retaking the lead thanks to doubles from Marc McKinney and John Graves, a triple from Phil Klatch, and dingers from Mike Haberle and Corey Carlen. Dirty Dozen go right back up on a sac fly, six singles, and with James McHale ripping a triple, as they tally four runs. Phil Klatch drives in the tying run for Amber Inn in the top of the sixth on a double. Then, after holding Amber Inn silent in the top of the seventh, Ben Vitelli ropes a leadoff double for Dirty Dozen, then Nick Vitelli immediately drives him in to secure the win. Dirty Dozen walks off on Amber Inn, winning 10-9.

Game 2: Dirty Dozen vs. Holding Hands with Hookers

Kyle Hutter ropes a triple in the first at bt of the game and he scored on a Ben Vitelli sac fly as Dirty Dozen score one in the top of the first. In the top of the second, they bat around and really open the game up with 10 runs thanks to doubles from Mike Roche, Todd Gibson, and Kyle Hutter, a triple fromNick Vitelli, and a two run big fly from Angelo Vitantonio. Dirty Dozen keep rolling in the top of the third with a pair of singles and back to back doubles from James McHale and Jamie Glennon, tacking on another three runs. In the bottom of the third, Holding Hands with Hookers get on the board with one run courtesy of a Paul Rainer RBI double. In the top of the fourth, Ben Vitelli pokes an RBI double and Angelo Vitantonio smacks another two run dinger as Dirty Dozen rack up three more runs. In the bottom of the frame, HHWH lose Dan Owens to ejection and fail to get on the board. Dirty Dozen get another three in the top of the fifth by playing small ball with six base knocks. HHWH get two RBI triples from Gary Brooks and Kurt Siegel plus a solo jack from Jeff Sywulak as they tally six runs in a big bottom of the fifth. In the top of the sixth, Dirty Dozen get just one run on a handful of singles to go up 21-7. HHWH match them in the bottom of the sixth with one run thanks to Gary Brooks’ second triple of the game. The score would end there as Dirty Dozen beat up Holding Hands with Hookers and win 21-8.
