Game 1 – Baron Von Fritz (4-3) at Isotopes (3-3-1)
After starting the season 4-0, Baron has been reeling. Meanwhile, the isotopes have been climbing up the standings, making this bout pivotal for playoff seeding.
An early error helped Baron to notch the game’s first run in the top of th first. The Isotopes immediately responded back on the back of Chris Herring’s RBI double, taking the lead 3-1. Baron grinded out another run in the second, but in the bottom half, Paul Mizvitowicz dropped a 2-RBI double on them, extended the Isotope lead to 5-2.
Baron once again plated a single run in the third, but the Isotopes were ready to take control of the game. It started wit Ryan Greenberg’s double. 3 walks would follow, scoring 1 run, before a pair of singles and back-to-back RBI doubles from Justin Berry and Greenberg really blew the score opened. Two batters later, Dave Ray provided an RBI double of his own to cap off the 9-run outburst. The Isotopes led 14-3 after three.
Needing to battle back, Baron went to work in the fourth. Nick Todd led off the inning with a double and would score two batters later as Steve Hausman blasted a 2-run homer. Ryan Gardner later doubled and scored, cutting the lead to 14-6. In the fifth, Baron continued to cut into the lead. A handful of singles set the stage for Chris Salanik, who left nothing to chance as he blasted a Grand Slam, capping off a 5-run inning. In the blink of an eye, the 11-run Isotope lead had shrunk to only 3.
The comeback continued for Baron in the sixth, as Frankie Fusca led off the inning with a solo homer. Then, with two on, Ryan Gardner tied the game with his 2-RBI single.
In the seventh, Baron looked to take the lead as Shawn Morris led off the inning with a single, but three-straight outs would put them back on the defensive. After surrendering an enormous lead, the Isotopes still had the chance to escape with the W. Carlos Herring led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. Justin Berry followed with a single of his own, putting two on with no outs. With the chance to be the hero, Ryan Greenberg did not disappoint. He delivered an RBI, walk-off single.
They let their foot off the gas, but the Isotopes still found a way to win in the end.
Final Score: Isotopes 15 (4-3-1) Baron Von Fritz (4-4)
Player of the Game: His numbers weren’t super flashy, but Ryan Greenberg was involved in everything the Isotopes did right in this one. He went 3 for 4 plus a walk with 2 doubles, 3 RBIs and 2 Runs Scored…and also delivered the walk-off single.

Game 2 – Backdoor Sliders (1-5-1) at Randazzos Pizza (2-5)
Backdoor Sliders Forfeit.
Final Score: Randazzos Pizza 7 (3-5) Backdoor Sliders 0 (1-6-1)

Game 3 – Hambinos (3-4) at Jackhammers (4-3)
The Hambinos have been a team on the rise of late, while the Jackhammers have stumbled a bit.
The Hambinos started slow in this one, with nothing to show for their first inning efforts. Meanwhile, the Jackhammers used 3 singles and an RBI double from Jan Jensen to take the early 2-0 lead.
That lead was short-lived, though, as the Hambinos went HAM in the second, third and fourth innings. 4 singles and an RBI double from Ed Hainsworth produced 5 runs for the Hambinos in the second. Then a string of an RBI triple and 2 RBI doubles did some serious damage in the third, before Spencer Slutzky’s 3-RBI double capped off the 7-run inning, giving the Hambinos the 12-2 advantage. In the fourth, the Hambinos added on as Mark Peasly’s 2-RBI triple helped produce 3 more runs, giving the Hambinos a 13-run lead in the middle of the fourth.
The Jackhammers started to fight back in the bottom of the fourth, as Dan Jensen blasted a 2-run homer and Chris Day doubled, helping to produce 4 runs.
In the fifth, back-to-back homers from Slutzky and Nick Heller made it a 17-6 game before both teams fell silent in the sixth.
Slutzky blasted a 2-run bomb in the seventh, tacking on 2 more insurance runs. In the bottom half, the jackhammers attempted to small-ball themselves back into the game. 5 of the first 6 batters singled, 3 of them crossing the dish, but it wasn’t enough.
The Hambinos won this one going away.
Final Score: Hambinos 19 (4-4) Jackhammers 8 (4-4)
Player of the Game: Tough to imagine a much better game than the one Spencer Slutzky had for the Hambinos. He went 5 for 5 with 2 doubles, 2 homeruns, 8 RBIs and 2 Runs Scored. WOW!

Game 4 – SCLSU Mud Dogs (7-0) at Hattricks (2-5)

In a game that was very “Haves” vs “Have-Nots,” there were a LOT of runs.
The Mud Dogs put up a touchdown in the first, thanks to a 2-RBI double from Kris Carr and a 3-run double from Justin Molfese. Hattricks answered right back, though, as Joe Graef chipped in an RBI triple and Frank Murray smacked an RBI double. The score was 7-5 Mud Dogs after one.
The only run in the second came on Kris Carr’s solo homer, extending the Mud Dog lead to 8-5. In the third, they kept piling on, plating 3 more runs, including 2 on Matt Figueroa’s homerun.
In the bottom half of the third, Tyler Roetman blasted a 2-run homer for Hattricks, and then both Jordan Glasure and Frank Murray doubled, cutting the Mud Dog lead to 11-9.
This is as close as the game would get, though, as the Mud Dogs scored 2 touchdowns in the fourth. 9 singles provided the shake, but doubles from Max Malloy, Brian Figueroa, and Chris Duffy supplied the sizzle. Then, for good measure, Matt Figueroa blasted a Grand Slam, capping off the crazy inning. 2 more runs in the fifth was all they would need to send Hattricks home early in this one.
Final Score: SCLSU Mud Dogs 27 (8-0) Hattricks 11 (2-6)
Player of the Game: Matt Figueroa went 3 for 4 plus a walk with 2 homeruns (including a Grand Slam), 8 RBIs and 4 Runs Scored. Quite the day.
