Game 1: Amber Inn vs. Tropics
Amber Inn break out in the top of the first, riding doubles from Phil Klatch, Mark McKinney, Mike Haberle, and David Graves to four runs. Tropics respond with a lone run in the bottom of the frame, taking advantage of an error and a Rick Brauning base knock. Jeff Johnson rips an RBI double in the top of the second and Amber Inn tack on a sac fly to plate two. In the top of the third, it’s another sac fly that plates a run for Amber Inn as they add to their lead. In the bottom of the third, Tropics poke a few singles, force an error, and use a sac fly to push two across the dish. In the top of the fourth, Amber Inn watch /kevin Noone and Phil Klatch rip solo dingers to plate both their runs. The next inning, everyone comes up to the plate for Amber Inn, drawing a couple walks, hitting a few singles, scoring on two sac flies, and seeing Corey Carlen and John Graves rope doubles as they score seven and open a 16-3 lead. In the bottom of the fifth, Tropics manage two runs, both driven in on a Jay Mykrantz double. In the top of the sixth, John Graves launches a triple, scoring what would be the final run of the game for Amber Inn. After a silent seventh inning, Amber Inn wrap up and easy win over Tropics, 17-5.
Man of the Match: Phil Klatch (3-3, 2 R, 2 SF, 2B, HR, 3 RBI)
Game 2: Tropics vs. Misfits
After holding their opponent off the board in the top of the first, Misfits come out in the bottom of the frame and get a pair of singles and an RBI double off the bat of Walt Zolna to get on the board with one. In the bottom of the second, they plate one more on three singles, doubling their lead. Tropics wake up in the top of the third, getting a leadoff homer from John Norman, a two run base hit from Rick Brauning, and doubles from Noah Mastin and Shawn Thome as they score four and take the lead. Misfits come out in the bottom of the third and take their lead right back, plating five including a three run big fly from Joe Torres. Tropics take advantage of a walk and a Sean Rizzo single to score one in the top of the fifth, then in the top of the sixth, use a sac fly to plate another, closing their deficit to just one run. In the bottom of the sixth, Misfits force an error, hit a pair of singles, then get RBI doubles from Nick Perez and Rico Jones as they score four and take a five run lead heading into the final frame. Tropics do manage to force an error and drive in a run, but they’d fall short in this tilt as well. Misfits are victorious over Tropics by a score of 11-7.
Man of the Match: Walt Zolna (3-3, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI)
Game 3: Dirty Dozen vs. Misfits
Dirty Dozen get a double from Ben Vitelli and he’s driven in by Nick Vitelli as they score one to open the scoring in the top of the first. Misfits match that immediately with a leadoff homer from Jimmy Cooker, then tack another one on to take a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the second, they tack on one more on another solo homer, this one from Rico Jones. In the top of the fourth, Dirty Dozen get back on the board as James McHale ropes a triple and gets driven in by Constantine Georgiadis. Misfits match them in the bottom of the fourth to maintain their lead thanks to a Nick Perez double and a sac fly. In the bottom of the fifth, three consecutive singles and a sac fly plate two runs for Misfits as they take a 6-2 lead. Dirty Dozen’s bats wake up in the top of the sixth as they force an error, hit a couple singles, get a double from Kyle Landis, and a triple from James McHale as they score four and tie the game. In the top of the seventh, they retake the lead with a pair of runs as Nick Vitelli roped a double and Angelo Vitantonio smacked an RBI triple. In the bottom of the seventh, Misfits manage to get a man in scoring position, but would fail to score and let the win slip through their fingers. Dirty Dozen come back and win 8-6.
Man of the Match: James McHale (2-4, 2 R, 2-3B, RBI)
Game 3: Billy Goats vs. Philly’s Phinest
Philly’s Phinest are the first on the board as they score a pair in the bottom of the first thanks to four singles and a fielder’s choice. They tack on another run in the bottom of the second as Mike Repici ripped a triple and scored on a sac fly. In the bottom of the third, Philly’s Phinest keep rolling and score four on a pair of singles and doubles from ike Rocks, Jr., Tony Summers, and Fran Kober. In the top of the fifth, Billy Goats ride five singles to get on the board with a pair of runs. In the bottom of the frame, Mike Rocks, Sr. leads off the inning by roping a double, then they poke a few singles and get doubles from Fran Kober and Mike Repici, scoring four runs. Billy Goats get a pair of singles to start off the top of the sixth, then plate a run on Mike Mauriello’s sac fly. Philly’s Phinest keep setting the pace with another four run frame and more doubles from Mike Rocks, Jr. and Sr. and Ray Rocks, further increasing their lead. Billy Goats, facing a huge task to come back, end up going down 1-2-3 in the top of the seventh. Philly’s Phinest cruise to victory over Billy Goats 15-3.
Man of the Match: Mike Rocks, Sr. (3-4, 4 R, 2-2B, 3 RBI)
Game 4: Santucci’s vs. Holding Hands with Hookers
Santucci’s wins 7-0 by forfeit.
