The best of the best of B North gathered to battle it out on the sun drenched Cedar Hill field. Who will rise to the occasion and become the new Kings of the North in Spring 2018? Let’s find out…

Game One: Yankee Clippers v Ballz Deep

The Yankee Clippers got the scoring started in the top of the first as they are able to push across four runs via 5 singles, a fielder’s choice and a sac fly. Ballz Deep would answer the bell in the bottom half of the inning as the middle of the order is able to crank out five consecutive hits, including a a Travis Bryan triple and back to back doubles from Justin Glennon and Bryan Carr. In a back and forth defensive battle neither team was able to get much going until the bottom of the 5th inning when lean mean Gene Walczak smoked an RBI single to give Ballz Deep all the breathing room they would need as they close out game one 6 to 4.

Game Two: Snipers v One Hit Wonders

The One Hit Wonders got on the board first as four singles plated two runs in the bottom of the 2nd. Following that up, they are able to plate a solid four runs in the bottom of the 3rd as an Andy Springer double and a Mike Trivino three run bomb did the damage. Colby Schoeller would add to the scoring as he crushed an RBI triple for the Wonders in the bottom of the 4th. Capping the day, the Wonders would bat around in the 5th inning, scoring a whopping 8 runs on a TON of singles and a Rob Gigondi three bagger. The Snipers were able to plate 1 run on a RBI single from Mike Z in the top of the third but that was all the damage they were able to do in this one. Final score: One Hit Wonders 16 - Snipers 1

Game Three: Ballz Deep v Dark Horse

Sean Butrica doubled and scored on a Geno single to start the scoring for Ballz Deep and give them an early one run lead. Dark Horse would knot the score in the bottom half of the inning as singles and a Paul Harding sac fly plated a run. The 2nd inning proved to be the turning point in this one as Dark Horse jumped out to a HUGE lead, scoring 13 runs via walks, singles, a bases clearing triple and a three run homer from Paul Ferruzzi Jr, a double from Ryan Schock, and a double from Paul Ferruzzi Sr. Ballz Deep chipped away in the 3rd inning as they got a Jason Falcone homer, Butrica doubled again, and Tom Campbell smoked a triple to plate three runs. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Dark Horse pushed across four more runs as Paul Ferruzzi Sr doubled and Ryan Schock crushed a triple. Ballz Deep continued to battle as Sean Butrica cranked a 2 RBI triple and scored himself to cut into the deficit. They would also get one in the 7th via a sac fly. Final score and advancing the to championship: Dark Horse 18- Ballz Deep 8

Game Four: One Hit Wonders v Insurance Runs

One Hit Wonders jumped out to an early lead as they are able to get two runs via a Andy Springer double. Colin Beatty and Seth Mattlemen would answer the call for the IRs in the bottom half of the inning as they would double and triple respectively and spark the offense to four runs. One Hit Wonders would cut into the deficit in the 3rd as Jake Heaton would triple and score. In the bottom of the fourth the IRs blew the doors open on this one as they would bat around scoring 7 runs, highlighted by Mattlemen and Rick Leonetti doubling and Matt Freedman crushing a triple. They would then add to their lead as they would plate four runs on singles in the bottom of the 6th. In a last ditch effort, the Wonders would battle back scoring two runs in the 7th inning via a Rob Grigondi double, but that was as much as they are able to mount in this one. Final Score: Insurance Runs 15 - OHWs 5

Looking forward to a great championship between two offensive juggernauts this weekend!
