Game 1 – SCLSU Mud Dogs at Hambinos
Things started well for the Mud Dogs, as their first two batters reached base in the first before Matt Figueroa doubled one in and then Ben Daniels launched a sac fly that scored 2 more.
In the bottom of the second, the Hambinos would tie up the game. Mike Mulvhill started the inning off with a triple, and Spencer Slutsky capped it with a 3-run bomb, knotting the score at 4.
But then came the Mud Dog onslaught. A handful of singles and walks littered the inning, plus timely doubles from Daulton Pickersgill, Tommy Brauer, Matt Greever, and a triple from Matt Figueroa. 12 runners crossed the plate in all, turning this close game into a rout.
Matt Lyke doubled in 2 for the Hambinos in the third, and Pat Tobin led off the fourth with a triple, helping to close the gap to 16-9…but then came the insurance runs. A double from Justin Molfese in the fifth and a handful of singles in the sixth added 2 more. 3 walks, an RBI double from Kavit Solanki and a 3-run bomb from Ben Daniels made it a 14 point lead in the seventh.
Staring down the barrel of a 2-touchdown deficit, the Hambinos meekly went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the last.
Final Score: SCLSU Mud Dogs 23 Hambinos 9
Player of the Game: Ben Daniels went 2 for 3 with 2 sac flies, a homerun, 6 RBIs and 2 Runs Scored.

Game 2 – Isotopes at Jackhammers
Things started pretty well for the Isotopes, as Sea Pena doubled to lead off the game. A handful of singles would follow, including Dan Ruggiero’s 2-RBI single-bagger as the Isotopes put up 4. In the bottom half, 5 straight walks (6 in all) plus Matt Figueroa’s timely RBI double pushed the Jackhammers ahead, 5-4.
The Isotopes would knot the score at 5 in the second on Brandon Bozek’s RBI single, but this game would be all Jackhammers the rest of the way.
Matt Figueroa singled in another run in the third, 3 scored in the fifth via a handful of singles, and then 1 more in the sixth as Matt Greever tripled.
Facing a 10-5 deficit in the seventh, only Walt Truxell could reach base as the Isotopes went down quietly.
Final Score: Jackhammers 10 Isotopes 5
Player of the Game: Filling in for his division rival, Matt Figueroa went 2 for 3 with a walk, 2 doubles, and 2 RBIs.

Game 3 – Pals Taphouse at Isotopes
Palz wasted no time in this one, as Casey Long led off the game with a triple. Later in the inning David Nakonieczny would double in a run en route to a 3-run inning. Sean Pena led off the bottom half with a double for the Isotopes, scoring one batter later and cutting into that 3-run lead.
3 straight walks loaded the bases for Palz in the second before Alex Freeman cleared them with his RBI triple, scoring one batter later. Dan Ruggiero led off the bottom half with a dinger for the Isotopes, before they accepted 3 straight free passes of their own as they played 5 in the inning, making for a 7-6 game.
5 of the first 6 Palz batters walked in the third, increasing their lead to 13-6. But clutch Isotope doubles from Frank Pirrone and Walt Truxell, and a 2-run bomb from Pena would once again make it a 1-run game before the inning was over.
Bob Jacob doubled for Palz in the fourth, helping increase the lead to 15-12. Andrew Laessig’s double helped add in 1 more in the sixth. Casey Long started off the seventh with a solo job, followed by a handful of singles and walks, increasing the lead to 21-12.
Down to their last licks, the Isotopes looked stunned, going down 1-2-3 to end it.
Finals Score: Pals 21 Isotopes 12
Player of the Game: In a losing effort, Sean Pena played as well as you could ask, going 3 for 3 with a double, homerun, 2 RBIs and 2 Runs Scored.
