Game 1: Dirt Stars vs. Harrigan’s Pub

Dirt Stars jump on the board first on an error, two singles and a sac fly, taking a two run lead in the top of the first. Harrigan’s responds in the bottom of the frame and they tie the game on a walk, an error, and a pair of singles. In the top of the second, Bobby McHugh knocks in two runs on a single, putting Dirt Stars up by two again. Harrigan’s bats around in the bottom of the second, scoring seven runs thanks in large part to back-to-back-to-back doubles from Greg Thompson, Jay Meikrantz, and Brian Sexton. In the top of the fifth, Dirt Stars display a keen eye and draw five walks to plate three runs. Bryan McMenamin ripped a triple and a double, driving in three of Harrigan’s nine total runs in the bottom of the fifth, batting around for the second time this game. Dirt Stars would be unable to tally any runs in the top of the sixth, the final inning of the game. Harrigan’s Pub steamrolls Dirt Stars 18-7.

Game 2: Bulldogs vs. Dirt Stars

Four runners crossed the dish in the bottom of the first for Dirt Stars on a slew of singles. Bulldogs wake up in the top of the second, plating three on three singles, a walk, and an error. Reaching by error, Joe Carpino scored for Dirt Stars the next inning on a Dan Owens single. In the top of the third, Bulldogs were led by CC Witt’s double as they get five runs, taking their first lead. Three consecutive singles followed by Joe Carpino’s double plates three for Dirt Stars in the bottom of the fourth tie the game at eight. Bulldogs break the tie with five in the top of the fifth highlighted by Dave Nagle roping a double and Mike Suda lacing a triple. Two more go up on the board for Bulldogs in the sixth as Dave Nagle doubles again. In the top of the seventh, they tack on three more, this time on an error and three singles, to add to their commanding lead. A pair of walks and a fielder’s choice plate a run for Dirt Stars, but they’d come nowhere near a comeback today. Bulldogs defeat Dirt Stars 19-9.

Man of the Match: Mike Suda (4-5, 3 R, 3B, 2 RBI)


Game 3: Dirty Dozen vs. Baron Von Fritz

Triples from James McHale and Alex Metz score four for Dirty Dozen who strike first in the top of the second.They tack on another two in the third thanks to Anthony Mumenthaler and Constantine Georgiadis smacking doubles. Baron Von Fritz joins the party in the bottom of the third, plating three runs on five base knocks and a base on balls. In the bottom of the fourth, Brendan Burrows drove in Evan Porter and Jay Payne who had doubled and Baron Von Fritz find themselves down one. Dirty Dozen double their slim lead in the top of the fifth as James McHale doubled and was driven in by Matt Wass. In the bottom of the fifth, Baron Von Fritz ride an error and five singles to a four run frame and a two run lead. Dirty Dozen reclaim the lead with doubles from Mark Meredith and Anthony Mumenthaler help score five. Jay Pane’s leadoff triple, a Brendan Burrows double, and two sac flies plate a pair in the bottom of the sixth for Baron Von Fritz who now trail by just one. In the top of the seventh, Alex Metz and Anthony Mumenthaler doubled and scored both Dirty Dozen runs. Down three, Baron Von Fritz would tap a couple of singles, but couldn’t manage a run. Dirty Dozen edge Baron Von Fritz 14-11.
