B North 7/15
Summer got off to a strange start with many crossover games between the top two conferences. Before we jump into week 2, here is a quick week 1 recap!

In actual B North action…

The Yankee Clippers and Amber Inn squads had a competitive game at the start as both teams scored early. Plating 15 over the first three innings, the Clippers were able to take control though. These 15 were highlighted by a plethora of singles and three run triples from Nick Wasekanes and John Bennett. They would go on to add 5 more runs over the final two innings as this time it was Bennett and ANdrew Breiscraft leading the way with the 3 baggers. Amber Inn hung tough in its return to the North. They were able to plate 3 runs over the first two innings via the single and the walk and 5 in the later stages of the game via back to back two RBI doubles from Corey Carlin and Marc McKinney. Yankee Clippers take this one, 20-8.

In game 2, the Yankee Clippers would once again drop a 20 bomb on the returning Philly’s Phinest. This 4 inning onslaught included doubles from 7 players including 2 from Paul Reider, triples from Jim Mastroni, Vince DePalma and Mike O’Conner, and a homer from Andre O ‘ Donnell. Philly’s Phinest got some offense going in their return to the North as they were able to push across 5 runs via a triple from Paul Rocchi and a double from the hot hitting Ray Rocks. Final Score in this one… Clips 20 - PP 5

In crossover action:

One Hit Wonders defeated a slow starting Doom Cats team 9 to 3, while the Misfits fell to a pesky Vertex squad 12 to 5 and Ballz Deep got stuck in the mud against a consistent Silverback team and lost 22 - 5. (write-ups should be in the American thread)

Week 2: 7/15

Game 1: Amber Inn v One Hit Wonders

Amber Inn fired out of the box scoring 3 in the top of the first highlighted by a huge triple from Marc McKinney. After the hot start, the next 4 innings would belong to the OHWs. They would plate 4 in the first via back to back to back to back doubles from Bill Groff, Andy Springer, Jack Stepnowski, and Paul, Ferruzzi Jr. They would get 5 in the 2nd on back to back to back doubles from Shawn McLaughlin, Jason Hammer, and Mike Harrington, coupled with a Jesse Grasso triple. In the 4th they would throw the final hammer down with a ton of singles, a Bill Jones triple, and a Bill Groff homer highlighting an 11 run inning. The Inn would fight back late with a run on a single and a solo homer from Dave Graves but fall in this one 20-5.

Game 2: One Hit Wonders v Philly’s Phinest

After a slow start, Jason Hammer broke open the game for the Wonders in the 3rd as he lead off with a solo homer. The wonders would follow that up with 4 runs in the 4th via singles walks and a Rob Gisondi triple, 8 runs in the 5th inning by way of singles, walks, a Dave Ketterlinus double and a Jesse Grasso ding dong, and a run in the 5th on an Andy Springer triple. The Phinest would have a tough time getting their footing in this uphill battle as they are only about to plate two runs in the 5th on a Ray Rocks double, and a run in the 7th on a single and an error. Final Score: Wonders 16 - Phinest 3

Game 3: Misfits v Philly’s Phinest

After plating a run in the first via a Joe Torres triple and two runs in the 2nd by way of a Jeff Castello triple, the Misfits would explode in the third for a whopping 7 runs in a good ol fashioned bat around highlighted by a Jimmy “pressure” Cooker triple and a smokin’ Joe Torres dinger. Walks and singles would push across two more runs over the next two innings as well. Philly’s Phinest found success in the singles and error game as they put the ball in play and plated runs in the 3rd and 4th innings. A hot swinging Ed Rocks smoked a triple to highlight a two run 6th inning as well. Tony Summers was the Phinest in this one as he rocked out to a 3 for 3 day with a sac fly. Final Score: Misfits 12 - Phinest 5

Game 4: Ballz Deep v Yankee Clippers

A short handed Clippers team was able to get off to a decent start plating a run in the 1st in singles. They followed that up with a Super SUB Kai Browner 3 run bombski in the 4th and two more runs via special helper Jimmy “pressure” Cooker’s double in the 5th. Most of this game belonged to the boys of Ballz Deep. Singles and a walk paced the scoring in the 1st inning as two runs scored to take the lead. In the 2nd, doubles from Justin Glennon and Brian Carr pushed across 4 more to extend the lead to 5. Not looking back they would plate 2 in the 3rd via a walk and an error, 5 runs in the 4th inning by way of walks and two baggers from ‘big” Sean Butrica and Mr. Carr, and 8 runs to ice the game in the 5th, highlighted by singles and a Jason Falcone triple. Final Score in this one: Ballz Deep 21 - Clips 5.
