Game 1: Dirt Stars vs. HG Coal Fired Pizza

HG gets on the board first in the bottom of the first scoring two runs thanks to Justin Knapp smacking a double, and Jay Cowen going yard. In the top of the second, Dirt Stars tie it up on an error and three singles. Justin Knapp launched a solo homer in the bottom of the third, giving HG their lead back. The next inning, HG gets another solo homer, this time from Mike Marcelline, then add a few singles and force an error to plate two runs. In the bottom of the fifth, HG keeps rolling as Brendan Parker and Ken Stein ripped doubles which contributed to three runs. Silent for several frames, Dirt Stars reemerge in the top of the sixth, with Dan Owens launching a ball into the trees of Hatfield for three runs. They’d fail to score in the top of the seventh, however, as HG Coal Fired Pizza defeats Dirt Stars 9-5.

Game 2: Bulldogs vs. HG Coal Fired Pizza

Bulldogs jump out to an early lead, plating three on a walk, a pair of singles, and an Anthony Bates dinger. In the bottom of the opening frame, HG get a two run bomb from Jay Stein, cutting into their early deficit. HG then takes the lead in the bottom of the second with five runs highlighted by doubles from Josh Wattenmaker andJay Stein which brought in two and three runs, respectively. Nick Alberino sent a ball over the fence in the top of the third to plate a pair for Bulldogs. In the fourth, they ride five straight singles as four runs cross the dish, providing a two run Bulldogs lead. Josh Wattenmaker smashes a three run homer for HG in the top of the fifth, who score four of their own to retake the lead. In the bottom of the fifth, Bulldogs tie it up at 11 as a pair of singles, a John Hogan double, and two sac flies. Bulldogs continue to produce in the top of the seventh, forcing an error, hitting a sac fly, and poking three singles to earn a two run lead. HG would be held silent in the bottom of the seventh as Bulldogs take this one 13-11.

Game 3: Baron Von Fritz vs. Harrigan’s Pub

Tim Montvydas smashes a three run dinger to set the tone in this game in the top of the first as BVF take a quick three run lead. Harrigan’s responds by tying the game with three of their own in the bottom of the frame as Brian Hilbert provided all three runs on his big fly. Unamused, BVF bat around in the top of the second, drawing a pair of walks, poking four singles, getting doubles from Tim Montvydas and Brendan Burrows, and getting a three run bomb from Dan Keith totalling a whopping 10 runs. In the top of the fourth, Tim Montvydas ripped another double to plate a run for BVF. Finally waking back up in the bottom of the fifth, Harrigan’s Brian Hilbert smacks another three run homer, shaving a little off the large BVF lead. In the sixth, four singles end up plaiting a single run for Harrigan’s. In the top of the seventh, BVF tack on a pair of insurance runs thanks to Evan Porter sending a two run dinger over the fence. Harrigan’s never recoversas Baron Von Fritz end up with a big 17-7 victory.

Man of the Match: Tim Montvydas (4-4, 3 R, 2-2B, HR, 6 RBI)


Game 4: Dirty Dozen vs. Harrigan’s Pub

Kyle Hutter leads off this game with a double and ends up scoring as Dirty Dozen take a quick one run lead. In the bottom of the first, Harrigan’s have Brian Hilbert and Jeff Tongue each drive in a pair of rune on a single and homer, respectively, as they plate five. Dirty Dozen score two in the top of the second on four base knocks and a fielder’s choice. Harrigan’s matches that in the bottom of the frame after drawing a walk and poking a pair of singles. In the bottom of the third, Harrigan’s scores a lone run. In the top of the fourth, Matt Wass rips a double to plate one for Dirty Dozen. Brian Hilbert leads the bottom of the fifth off with a olo big fly, scoring Harrigan’s only run. In the top of the sixth, James McHale smacks a two run bomb, accounting for all Dirty Dozen offense in the frame. Harrigan’s draws a walk and smacks a few singles in the bottom of the sixth to get two runners across the dish. Down five in the top of the seventh, Anthony Mumenthaler smacks a solo homer and James McHale launches a Grand Slam, providing exactly the runs needed to knot the game up. They hold Harrigan’s silent in the bottom of the seventh, forcing this one into extra innings. Dirty Dozen then force several errors, poke a few singles, and get a Matt Wass double as they bat around and plate six runs in the top of the eighth. Backs against the wall, Harrigan’s get a three run bomb from Brian Hilbert, but were only able to add one more as they only score four. Dirty Dozen outlast Harrigan’s Pub, winning 17-15.
