Jackhammers at Mud Dogs
The Jackhammers struck first blood as Tom Lydon drove in Tom Finn, giving their team an early 1-0 lead. But the Mud Dogs plated 4 in the bottom half, 3 of which came on Brian Figueroa’s bomb.
Glen Hipple drove in 2 as the Jackhammers knotted the score in the top of the second…and they took the lead in the third, 7-5, when Brian Pestridge drove in 2 with his triple.
The Mud Dogs managed to tie the game in the bottom of the third with a handful of singles.
In the fourth, the Jackhammers plated 1, and then tacked on 2 more in the fifth on Rod Wardrop’s RBI single.
Down by 3 in the bottom of the sixth, the Mud managed to load the bases and score 2 runs, bringing Sam Matos to the plate with 2 outs and his team down by just 1. Unfortunately, the rally would die when Matos lofted a ball into left for the third out of the inning.
Final Score: Jackhammers 10 Mud Dogs 9
Player of the Game: Despite the loss, Brian Figueroa did all he could, going 2 for 2 plus a walk with a homerun, 4 RBIs and a Run Scored.
Palz at Jackhammers
In the top of the first, Pete Herbert got the Palz onto the board with a solo bomb. An inning later, the Jackhammers took the lead back, plating 5 in the inning, 3 of which came on Brian Pestridge’s bases clearing triple.
The Palz fought back in a big way in the third. It started with a handful of singles…and then Alex Freeman launched a 3-run bomb, Kyle Creemer doubled, Jordan Cohen tripled and Brian Fern tripled…back-to-back-to-back-to-back. 8 runs scored in all, giving Palz the 8-5 lead.
The offense continued for the Palz in the fourth, as 5 more runs would score, 3 of which came on Casey Long’s 3-run bomb. In the bottom half, a handful of singles would amount to 4 runs, bringing the Jackhammers back within 5 at 14-9.
Two scoreless innings of softball would follow, and that’s how this one would end.
Final Score: Palz 14 Jackhammers 9
Player of the Game: Alex Freeman went 2 for 3 in the game with a homerun, 4 RBIs and a Run Scored.
