Game 1: Harrigan’s vs. Baron Von Fritz

After holding their opponents silent in the top of the first, Baron Von Fritz get on the board with three runs in the bottom of the frame thanks to a sac fly and with Jamie Kracht and Steve Berry ripping doubles. Harrigan’s gets two runs in the top of the second on three singles and a Jay Mykrantz double. Greg Thompson’s RBI triple in the top of the third ties the game for Harrigan’s. Steve Berry roped a triple for BVF in the bottom of the fourth and scored on a sac fly, reclaiming the lead. In the top of the sixth, Harrigan’s ties the game at four on a sac fly from Jeff Tongue. In the bottom of the frame, BVF breaks the tie again, this time with a pair of runs on four singles and a Tom Montvydas double. A walk and three singles total two runs for Harrigan’s in the top of the seventh, tying the game yet again, this time at six runs apiece. Jay Payne led off the bottom of the seventh with a double and Evan Porter wasted no time knocking him in for a walk off victory. Baron Von Fritz scrapes past Harrigan’s, winning 7-6.

Game 2: Baron Von Fritz vs. Dirt Stars

Baron Von Fritz starts off hot with five singles and a double off the bat of Brendan Burrows leading to a four run top of the first. Evan Porter led the top of the second off with a homer, adding a run to BVF’s lead. In the top of the third, they keep rolling as doubles from Chris Salanik and Brendan Burrows plate three more for a growing 8 run BVF lead. Dirt Stars make their way into the runs column in the bottom of the third as Bobby McHugh and Joey Carpino each drove in a run on a double and a sac fly, respectively. In the top of the fourth, BVF get those two runs back on a sac fly, four singles, and Evan Porter’s double. In the fifth, they keep going after starting the inning with two straight flyouts. With two down, BVF get back-to-back triples from Steve Berry and Dan Keith, then poke three singles before Jason Colfer drove them both in with a double. In the top of the seventh, BVF tack on another pair of runs as Steve Berry led the inning off with a triple which was followed by a sac fly, a single, and an error. Down huge in the bottom of the seventh, Dirt Stars manage to drive in Joe Tulino who doubled before ending the game by jumping off the bag early. Baron Von Fritz crush Dirt Stars 17-3.

Game 3: Dirty Dozen vs. Bulldogs

Dirty Dozen start off the top of the first with one run on a pair of singles and a fielder’s choice. In the top of the second, Dirty Dozen’s James McHale crushes a solo bomb to double their lead. This sparks Bulldogs in the bottom of the second who smacked five singles and drew a walk on their way to four runs and a lead. In the bottom of the third, they plate five more, this time with six base knocks and two sac flies. Kyle Hutter and Erik Stostak rip triples for Dirty Dozen, helping to plate three runs in the top of the fourth. Bulldogs plate one in the bottom of the fourth on a pair of singles and a fielder’s choice. They bat around the following frame, smacking a slew of singles after Nick Alberino smashed a leadoff homer, leading to six runs. Further expanding their lead, Bulldogs score five in the bottom of the sixth, drawing a few walks, and with Mike Suda roping a double. The seventh inning wouldn’t even be played in this one after Bulldogs smash Dirty Dozen 21-5.

Man of the Match: Nick Alberino (4-4, R, SF, HR, 6 RBI)


Game 4: HG Coal Fired Pizza vs. Dirty Dozen

Jay Cowan and Brendan Parker each launch two run homers in the top of the first, getting HG on the board in a big way in the top of the first. Dirty Dozen manage a run in the bottom of the frame thanks to Anthony Mumenthaler’s solo blast. The next inning, James McHale and Derek Kreyenhagen each drive in a run for Dirty Dozen on a double and single, respectively. In the bottom of the third, Dirty Dozen take the lead with four runs on a walk, a single, and doubles from Aex Metz and Kyle Hutter. In the top of the fourth, HG get a sac fly from Ken Stein to add a run to their total. Dirty Dozen draw three walks in the top of the fourth and add three singles plus doubles from Matt Wass and Kyle Landis, pushing five across the dish. In the bottom of the fifth, James McHale smashes a three run bomb as Dirty Dozen add another four runs, creating a ten run lead. In the top of the sixth, HG makes a big dent in that lead scoring six runs thanks to RBI doubles from Mike Marcelline, Emilio Medina, and Joe Craig. In the top of the seventh, Jay Stein smacks a two run big fly and Jay Cowan roped a triple, but HG would plate just three, falling a run short of a comeback. Dirty Dozen get by HG Coal Fired Pizza 16-15 in a thriller.
