Game 1: HG Coal Fired Pizza vs. Harrigan’s Pub

Two singles and an error get HG on the board first with a run in the opening frame. In the bottom of the first, Harrigan’s takes the lead on three runs off two singles, an error, and a fielder’s choice. Harrigan’s pours four more runs on in the bottom of the third thanks to Sean Rozzi, Shawn Thome, and Brian Sexton all roping doubles. In the top of the fourth, HG manages to answer thanks to a two out double and single from John P. (sorry, that’s what it’s got in the book) and Jay Cowan, respectively. Jay Stein led the following inning off with a solo bomb, and a single and an error tacked on another run as HG scores two and claws their way back to a one run deficit. Harrigan’s then drew two walks and forced two errors in the bottom of the fifth while Greg Thompson oubled and Jeff Tongue tripled for a six run frame, reestablishing their big lead. In the bottom of the sixth, they keep pouring it on, highlighted by Shawn Thome’s RBI double and Jeff Tongue’s rare two run sac fly to plate four more. Desperate in the top of the seventh, HG fight back by drawing a free pass, poking a single, getting doubles from Jay Stein and Mike Marcelline, and a two run bomb from Justin Knapp. Unfortunately, they’d only manage to get six runs, which would double their output, but would still fall short. Harrigan’s Pub defeats HG Coal Fired Pizza 17-12.

Man of the Match: Jeff Tongue (1-3, R, SF, 3B, 4 RBI)

Game 2: Dirty Dozen vs. Bulldogs

Ben Vitelli starts this contest off with a double and Dirty Dozen followed him with three singles to take an early two run lead. In the bottom of the first, Mike Suda smacks a triple and scores for Bulldogs. In the top of the third, Rub Shuck launched a leadoff homer for Dirty Dozen. John Hogan does the same in the bottom of the third, keeping Bulldogs within one. Another leadoff homer in the top of the fourth from James McHale and a double off the bat of Todd Gibson plate a pair for Dirty Dozen. Bulldogs respond with a four run frame to take a one run lead highlighted by triples from Matt Lagomarsino and John Hogan. Anthony Mumenthaler and James McHale each smacked homers in the top of the fifth to help score four for Dirty Dozen. Bulldogs claw a run back in the bottom of the fifth as Nick Alberino doubled. Dirty Dozen tack on another run via sac fly in the top of the sixth, then get a three run bomb from Alex Metx in the top of the seventh, opening up a decent lead. Mike Suda then smashed a two out, three run dinger in the bottom of the seventh, but those runs wouldn’t be enough. Dirty Dozen get past Bulldogs with a 13-11 victory.

Man of the Match: James McHale (4-4, 3 R, 2 HR, 4 RBI)

Game 3: Harrigan’s Pub vs. Baron Von Fritz

We’d wait until the bottom of the second to see some runs in this game, with BVF’s Dan Keith driving in a pair of runs on a single. In the top of the third, Harrigan’s tied it up thanks to Bryan McMenamin and Greg Thompson each driving in a run with a base knock and a double, respectively. In the top of the fourth, they take the lead thanks to Shawn Thome’s leadoff triple to set the stage and Mark G’s double to take a four run lead. Harrigan’s keeps going in the top of the fifth, tacking on a pair of runs on a walk, two singles, and a Jay Mykrantz double. It took until the bottom of the seventh to wake BVF back up where they poked three singles, forced an error, and Jay Payne smashed a homer, but their four runs would leave them on the losing end despite their last ditch effort. Harrigan’s moves past Baron Von Fritz, winning 8-6.

Man of the Match: Shawn Thome (3-3, R, 3B)
