(4) Harrigan’s Pub vs (3) Dirty Dozen

Game 1

Away in the first game, Harrigan’s Pub comes right out of the gate with a pair of runs thanks to three singles and a Greg Thompson triple. Dirty Dozen responds immediately by forcing two errors, drawing a walk, poking a single, and getting doubles out of Ben Vitelli, Kyle Landis, and Rob Shuck to plate six to take the lead. A pair of singles and an error in the top of the second get Harrigan’s a run. Dirty Dozen match that run in the bottom of the frame on a sac fly.In the bottom of the fourth, Dirty Dozen tack on another run with leadoff man Rob Shuck scoring on a sac fly. A couple errors, a couple singles, and Greg Thompson’s huge three run bomb ties the game with five runs. A single, an error, and a sac fly creates a run and a slim lead for Dirty Dozen. Harrigan’s managed a couple of baserunners in the top of the seventh, but would not be able to tie this one. Dirty Dozen takes game 1 by the slimmest of margins, winning 9-8.


Game 2

Dirty Dozen jump out to an early lead with six uns in the top of the first highlighted by Ben Vitelli’s double and Rob Shuck’s two run big fly. Harrigan’s manages one in the bottom of the frame, scoring it on an outfield error. They tack on another in the bottom of the second as Brian Sexton doubled to leadoff and scored later in the inning with two outs. Anthony Mumenthaler led the top of the third off with a dinger, Mark Meredith followed him with a double, and three singles ad up to four for Dirty Dozen. Harrigan’s is productive in the bottom of the third, drawing a pair of walks, poking five singles, and using a sac fly to plate five. Mark Meredith’s single in the top of the fourth scored both Dirty Dozen runs. In the fifth, they add four more with James McHale and Matt Wass each smacking RBI triples. Harrigan’s responds with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth on walks and a single, now finding themselves down 16-9. In the seventh, they stage their comeback. They bat around, riding an error, a walk, six singles, and Mark Gualtieri’s double to seven runs to tie the game at 16! In the top of the eighth, Derek Kreyenhagen led off with a walk and a pair of singles ended up giving Dirty Dozen a slim lead. In the bottom of the eighth, Harrigan’s draws a two-out walk, but could not produce a hit and go down in another close one. Dirty Dozen sweeps Harrigan’s Pub, winning game 2 17-16.
