B North 7/19

Post by Jmill1734 »

HEAT WAVE As summer heats up, so do the bats of the men of B North. Teams are starting to hit their stride and the makings of an epic playoff race beginning to blossom.

Game 1: Ballz Deep v Misfits

The Misfits were the fit wells in this one as they crushed the first half of this game. They would plate 4 runs in the first on singles, 7 runs in the 2nd highlighted by doubles from Jeff Casternelli, Dan Cripps, and Jim Kash, a triple from Tim Graf and a homer from smokin' Joe Torres. They continued their hot hitting with 5 runs on singles and another Cripps double in the 3rd to grow their huge lead. Ballz Deep did put a few on the board to cut that deficit as they would get a run on singles in the 2nd and a run in the 3rd on a Falcone double. They would continued to dig out of the hole in the 4th and 5th innings as they player two runs on a Sean Hinnigan double in the 4th and 5 runs by way of singles and back to back doubles from Falcone and Walczak in the 5th. They would also plate a run on singles in the 7th. Icing this cake, the Misfits plated two in the 6th on singles and errors.

Final Score: Misfits 18 - Ballz Deep 9

Game 2: Misfits v Phinnies

With captain Kerns and leader Hensman back in the fold after a weekend of fun in the sun on the beach, Phinnies looked to bounce back and get a W. They would plate a run in the 1st on singles and follow up with 3 runs in the 2nd on Derrick and new daddy Jim Lalley. They would also post 3 runs in the 3rd on a bases clearning Greg Wyckoff double. Ryan Mcglynn capped their day with a two run double in the 5th. Despite all of that, the Misfits were just en fuego today. They plated 3 in the first on a Jim Kash money double and 3 runs in the 3rd on singles. They doubled that scoring 6 in the 4th on doubles from Rico Davis and Jimmy Cooker as well as homers from Tim Graf and Mr. Kash. While 6 runs was great, 7 was better in the 5th inning as singles powered a bat around. They liked scoring 6 better though and did just that again in the 7th inning on singles as well.

Final Score: Misfits 24 - Phinnies 9

Game 3: Amber Inn v Yankee Clippers

Softball is a game of momentum and this game had a ton of it. Amber Inn scored first as they plate a run on singles in the top of the first. In the bottom half of the inning, the Clips plate 5 of their own via a Rich Stead triple. Amber Inn would go on to plate 5 runs over the next three innings on a bunch of singles and capped by a John Fine two run dinger. The Yankee Clippers would use the same methodology to score 4 runs over the 4th and 5th inning but they used doubles from Dan Wilson, Andre O'Donnell and Nick Wasekanes do to the damage. In the 6th Inning the Clippers thought they put the game away with a monster 8 run bat around, highlighted by 10 singles (!). As all veteran teams show, softball is never over til its over and Amber Inn shrugged off a rough inning to score a whopping 11 runs to knot the game at 17 in the 7th inning. During the mega-rally Marc McKinney crushed a homer and both Dave and John Graves smokes doubles. The only way to end a game like this is in dramatic fashion and Kai Browner put an exclamation point on this one launching a solo homer to walk it off!

Final Score: Yankee Clippers 18 - Amber Inn 17

Game 4: Dark Horse v Yankee Clippers

Dark Horse scored runs over and over and over. After a paltry one run in the top of the first, they bat around and hammer home 9 in the 2nd highlighted by a Ryan Schock homer and back to back doubles from Bill Jones and Paul Ferruzzi Sr. After a quiet 3rd, the 4th inning saw the Horses score a ridiculous 14 runs doubles from Hodachek, Schock, and Moffett, a triple from Hodachek, combined with homers from Paul Ferruzzi and Ryan Schock again doing the damage. They went off to add 4 more in the 5th on a Jimmy Walker triple and Nick Mariani double. Battling the whole game the Yankee Clippers never gave up, They plated 5 in the 1st inning on singles and a Andrew Breiscraft homer. Kyle Reider doubled and scored in the 2nd. In the 3rd it was a John Bennett two run bombski that did the damage and in the 4th it was Andre O' Donnell who smacked a 3 run tater to cut the deficit.

Final Score: Dark Horse 28 - Yankee Clippers 11
