B North 7/11

Summa, summa, summa time… time to sit back and unwind… That’s all I know of the song but lets see what summer softball has in store :-p.

Game 1: One Hit Wonders v Wire2Wire

Wire2Wire controlled the game defensively as they displayed excellent leatherwork in their 9 to 4 win over One Hit Wonders. Joltin’ Joe Dimezza led the way with a 3-4 effort, “GG” crushed a homer, and super slugger Tom Segura crushed a triple and smoked a double. For the Wonderboys, Andy Springer started his campaign strong with an RBI triple in the 1st inning. Dave Ketterlinus cranked a 2 RBI double in the 4th, and Jason “ball-peen” Hammer cranked an RBI double in the 7th.

Final Score: W2W 9 - OHW 4

Game 2: One Hit Wonders v Bulldogs

The Wonders struggled getting much going in this one as they fall to the upstart Bulldogs 11-1. Adam Kotchetowsky led the way with a 2-3 effort including an RBI single for the Wonders. Rich Simms would also reach base twice as he singled and walked. For the Bulldogs, Mike Suda had a monster game, going 4 for 4 with two triples and a double, 3 RBI and 4 runs scored. Shawn Dunn also had a strong 3 for 4 performance including an RBI double. The top of the order did most of the damage as the first 5 hitters accounted for all but 1 run.

Final Score: Bulldogs 11 - Wonders 1

Game 3: Misfits v Birdgang

Sometimes you walk in the door quietly and sometimes you knock the darn thing down. The latter is exactly what the Bird Gang did! They would hammer home 6 in the first inning on singles and a Jason Pittmann triple, 3 in the 2nd on singles and 4 over the 4th and 5th innings as James McLaughlin smacked a double. They capped their arrival with a 10 run 6th inning, highlighted by another triple from Pittmann, a double from Dave Rotherberger and a dinger from James Mclaughlin. The Misfits hung in early as their high powered offense plate 4 in the 1st by way of a Chris Quinn double, and 2 in the 2nd on a Pat Brennan two bagger. That would be all they could muster though as they tried too many times to hit balls out of the Quarry.

Final Score: Birdgang 23 - Misfits 6
