B North 8/5 and 8/12


In a special sunday double edition we take a look at the fireworks that lit up the North over the past two weeks. As vacations and other events come into play, lineups get shaken up and all bets are off. Let’s take a look at what the last two weeks brought to the most competitive division in SBA.

Game 1: Yankee Clippers v Amber Inn

The Yankee Clippers hammered the ball all over the yard in this one. In the first inning they would push across 5 runs as they would bat round. Highlights included two RBI doubles by Andrew Breischaft and Nick Todd. They would match that 5 run inning with 5 more in the 2nd on four singles and a Brian Maguire 3 run homer. Continue the trend of 5 runs, they would combine for 5 more over the next two innings as Andrew B. smacked his 2nd double of the game and Andre O’Donnell laced an RBI triple. They would conclude their scoring for the day with 6 runs in the 5th inning as Brian Maguire smoked his 2nd homer of the day.
Amber Inn answered the bell in this one, also crossing the plate a ridiculous amount of times. In the bottom of the 1st, they would push across a huge 8 runs via singles, doubles by Mike Haberle and Carl Erwin, and a triple from MArc McKinney. Following that outburst they would score 3 more runs in the 21nd highlighted once again by a Haberle double. After a brief quiet spell Amber Inn exploded in the 5th inning for 9 more runs, by way of homers from Phl Klatch and Marc McKinney and back to back to back doubles from McKinney, Noone and Haberle. Down a run in the 6th Daves Graves smoked a 2 RBI single to give Amber Inn the win.

Final Score: Amber Inn 22 - Yankee Clippers 21

Game 2: Dirty Dozen v Bulldogs

Dirty Dozen had a difficult time in this one as this one pushing runs across the plate. Highlights included a double from John Hasgood in the 3rd inning and back to back to back run scoring doubles from Nick Vitelli and Angelo Vitantonio in the fourth.
The Bulldogs got a little fiesty offensively as they were able to plate 5 runs in the 3rd via a CC Witt triple and a Mike Suda three run bomb. Following that outburst they got an additional run in the 5th via a Paul Burtis triple and a Dave Nagle double. Capping their scoring for the day, the Bulldogs hammered home 5 runs in the 6th inning by way of a Matt “the bat” Lagomarsino triple and an Anthony Bates double sandwiching a bunch of singles.

FInal Score: Bulldogs 11 - Dozen 2

Game 3: Pink Sox V Ballz Deep

The Sox got into the scoring action early as they would plate a run with the help of a Joe Bisreglie double. In the 2nd inning Jon Fine crushed a two run homer for the boys in Pink to keep the scoring streak alive. In the 5th a Ralph Donato triple got the Sox back on the board with their 4th run of the day and a 6th inning single show added three to the total, capping their day at 7 runs.
The Ballz Deep squad in turn smoked the yellow pill all over the yard. In the bottom of the 1st BD got two runs via triples from Jason Falcone and Gene Walczak. Over the next three innings batting around became a habit. In the 2nd, BD was able to plate 4 runs on triples from Reyes, Gorman and Vitantonio. In the 3rd, another bat around plated 4 more runs on another Reyes triple and a homer from super sub Andrew Vitantonio. The 3rd bat around in a row in the 4th inning plated you guessed it, four more runs as Reyes only doubled this time but Geno “sizzle” smoked a triple. Since batting around is fun, the Ballz decided to do it again in the 6th inning, this time to the tune of 8 runs as Jason Falcone tripled and homered, Andrew V tripled again, and Adam Badunshinski smoked a double.

Final Score: Ballz Deep 22 - Pink Sox 7

Game 4: One Hit Wonders v Misfits

The One Hit Wonders got scoring started early as they plate a run in the top of the 1st in singles. They are able to plate two more runs in the 3rd as big Derek Strowhouser smacked a two run homer. Following that up they stole a run in the 5th on singles and in the 6th inning, they pushed across two more as Jake Heaton smoked a triple and scored two batters later.
The Misfits answered the call in the bottom of the 1st as they would plate two runs on a Joe Torres double. Following that up they were able to get two runs in the 2nd inning as Nick Perez led off with a triple and Tim Kalch doubled, both scoring. Walks, singles and an error would highlight a bat around in the 4th inning as the Misfits plate 6 big runs. Another big inning of errors and singles gave the Misfits four more runs in the 5th inning to cap their scoring for the day.

Final Score: Misfits 14 - OHW 6

Game 1: Pink Sox v Amber Inn

The Pink Sox would not be able to muster up offense in this one. In the first inning Sean Pena smoked a two run laser for a homer, but taking two subs and an out was not a recipe for success and that would be all they could do in this one.
Amber Inn hammered away in the bottom of the 1st to the tune of 7 runs as Dave Graves tripled, Corey Carlen smoked a homer two batter later, Kevin Noone followed that with a double, and John Graves crushed a two RBI triple. In the 2nd inning the Inn would gather 5 more runs via singles and walks. Following that outburst, a 3rd inning bat around garnered 5 more runs by way of back to back to back doubles from Phil Klatch, Carl Erwin and Dave Graved.

Final Score: Amber Inn 17 - Pink Sox 2

Game 2: Pink Sox v Misfits

The Pink Sox, in game two of their double dip got two runs in the top of the first via singles. They followed that up in the 3rd inning as Sean Pena smoked his 2nd homer of the day and sub Walt Campbell hammered a double, helping plate 5 huge runs.
The Misfits, using their high powered offense, plate 3 in the first inning, highlighted by doubles from Nick Perez and Glen Davis. A good ol’ fashioned bat around in the 2nd saw the Misfits score an incredible 11 runs as singles, doubles from Jim Kash and Tim Graff, a triple from Dan Cripps and a homer from Jimmy Cooker paved the way. A single and error would plate another run in the 4th inning and they would close the door in the 5th as another bat around, this time plating 7 runs ended the game. Those 7 runs came via singles, a double from Tim Graff and a homer from smokin Joe Torres.

Final Score: Misfits 22 - Pink Sox 7

Game 3: Misfits v Bulldogs

Continuing their hot hitting, the Misfits got a whopping 6 runs in the top of the 1st as a double from Joe Torres and a triple from Chris Quinn paved the way. A four run 4th inning would help propel them into the lead as Jim Kash led off with a homerun and Dan Cripps smoked a two RBI double. Still hyped from his last at bat, Jim Kash cranked his 2nd homer of the game in the 5th inning to extend the lead. Still scoring, singles would put an exclamation point on the day, scoring a run for the Misfits in the 6th.
The Bulldogs answered the bell in the bottom of the 1st scoring two runs on singles. THey would follow up that scoring with a 5 run outburst in the 2nd highlighted by more singles and a Mike Suda double. Still hammering away, Sean Dunn smoked a solo homer in the 3rd. Capping their scoring for the day, the Bulldogs scored two more runs in the 5th inning via singles and a launched triple from CC Witt.

FInal Score Misfits 13 - Bulldogs 10

Game 4: Dirty Dozen v One Hit Wonders

The DD take an early lead as they plate a run on the first via singles. The would follow that up with a 3 spot in the 2nd as Todd Gibson did most of the damage with a 2 RBI double. Errors and singles would pave the way to another 3 run inning in the 3rd. The best inning for the Dozen would prove to be the 6th as Angelo Vitantonio and Michael Roche crush back to back jacks helping them push across four runs. They would close the door in the 7th with John Hosgood smacking an RBI double helping score two.
The One Hit Wonders matched the run in the bottom of the 1st with a Paul Ferruzzi RBI single. We head to the 5th where the Wonders would nearly bat around, scoring 6 runs on singles, errors and a double by Jack Stepnowski. An error and walks would plate a run in the 6th and in the 7th big Mike Harrington smoked a two RBI double to cap their scopring for the game.

Final Score: Dirty Dozen 13 - One Hit Wonders 10

Game 5: Yankee Clippers v Ballz Deep

Walks and singles would plate a run for the Clippers in the top of the 1st. They would follow this up with a huge 6 run outburst in the 5th inning. Highlights of this slugfest included a plethora of singles and 2 three run homers from Andre O’Donnell and Brian Maguire respectively.
Ballz Deep got the scoring going in the 2nd inning as three singles would score Sean Butrica. Following that up would be a monster 4th inning that saw 4 runs be scored. The damage was done in the inning by doubles from Soup Campbell and Sean Burtica and a two run ding dong from Justin Glennon.

Final Score: Yankee Clippers 7 - Ballz Deep 5
