Game 1 – E’s Irish Pub at State Reps
It’s been a tough season thus far for the State Reps, and this game was no different.
To start the game, Tom Collins doubled and Bob Worthington tripled (he’d score one batter later). Before the State Reps even knew it, they were in a hole they wouldn’t dig out of all game long. The top of the first continued to go well for E’s, as Tom Montydas doubled and a slew of singles followed, all adding up to an early 5-run lead.
Kyle Greener singled for the State Reps in the bottom of the first, scoring a few batters later. This would be the only offense the squad generated all game long.
In the second, E’s got a triple from Montydas, a double from Rob Worthington, and 2 more runs to pad their score. Singles paved the way for 3 more runs in the third, making it a 10-1 lead.
In the fifth, a slew of walks and a timely double from Montydas plated 4 runs.
E’s won this one going away.
Final Score: E’s Irish Pub 14 State Reps 1
Player of the Game: Tom Montydas went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, a triple, 3 RBIs and 3 Runs Scored.

Game 2 – State Reps at Maggios

Things didn’t get any better for the State Reps in game two of their doubleheader.
2-run homers from Jarred Katz and Mike Tasha helped Maggios to score 5 in the bottom of the first. Katz followed up his dinger with an RBI double in the second, extending the lead to 6-0.
The State Reps strung together 4-straight singles in the top of the third, and Ryan Nakondzczny scored on Pete Herbert’s RBI base hit to score the Reps’ only run in the game. Meanwhile Maggios offense went back to work in the bottom half as Drake Sprouse blasted a 3-run homer, extending his team’s lead to 10-1.
An RBI single from Sprouse and an RBI double from Eric Schwabb scored individual runs in the fourth and fifth for Maggios before Alex Tamborino’s double and a barrage of singles helped to end this one early in the sixth.
Final Score: Maggios 16 State Reps 1
Player of the Game: Drake Sprouse went 4 for 4 with a homerun, 5 RBIs and 2 Runs Scored.

Game 3 – Maggios at Backdoor Sliders

In the final game of the day, Maggios tried to double down on their success, but their opponent wouldn’t roll over quite so easily.
Jarred Katz doubled for Maggios in the top of the first, later scoring on Donny Younger’s RBI single, giving their team an early 1-0 lead. The Sliders finally tied it up in the bottom of the third as Kevin Carver tripled and scored on Steve Martinez’ RBI single.
Maggios reclaimed the lead, 3-1, in the fourth as Mike Tersha walked and Drake Sprouse blasted a 2-run bomb.
The Backdoor Sliders grabbed their first lead of the game in the fifth. 4-straight singles got things going and then back-to-back doubles from Blasé Contino and Chad Wood added up to 5 runs and a 6-3 lead.
Looking to catch up in the sixth, Maggios cut their deficit by 2. Eric Schwabb led off with a single and scored as Mike Tersha blasted a 2-run bomb, making it a 6-5 game. After a scoreless sixth from the Sliders, Maggios looked for some late-game magic in the seventh. Two quick outs put them in a bind, but then Alex Heller singled, putting the tying run on base. But that’s where the rally would end, as Donny Younger flew out to right, end the game.
The Sliders had just one big inning, but it was enough.
Final Score: Backdoor Sliders 6 Maggios 5
Player of the Game: Chad Wood only went 1 for 2, including a walk, with a double and 2 RBIs, but his fifth inning 2-run double was the decisive hit in the game.
