Lukens III

Game 1: Magerks vs. Hambinos

Magerks get on the board with a pair in the top of the fist off a walk, a Brian Dayton double, and Frank Turco’s two run single. Hambinos get one of those back in the bottom of the frame, with Nick Heller roping a triple, then scoring on a base knock. In the top of the second, Magerks draw a walk, smack four singles, then Brian Dayton rips a two run triple, plating four runs. In the top of the third, Magerks keeps rolling, batting around and scoring five with brian Dayton and Brian Hilbert each providing run producing doubles. Hambinos match them in the bottom of the third, also batting around and scoring five, getting two run singles from Mark Peasley and Chris Jennings. In the bottom of the fourth, triples from Bill Peters and Mike Heller plus a two run dinger from Nick Heller plate six as Hambinos bats around again and take a 12-11 lead. Magerks tie it up in the top of the fifth as Brian Dayton doubled and scored on a fielder’s choice. Hambinos plate three in the bottom of the fifth thanks to doubles off the bats of Mike Hilt, Mark Peasley, and Mike Mulvihill. Undeterred in the top of the sixth, Magerks tally five runs, forcing an error, drawing a walk, poking four singles, and getting a Steve Walker double as they bat around again and retake the lead. In the top of the seventh, Magerks adds two insurance runs with Frank Turco driving in one on a double. In the bottom of the seventh, Magerks would retire Hambinos in order to win this back and forth game 19-15.

Man of the Match: Brian Dayton (4-6, 5 R, 3-2B, 3B, 4 RBI)


Game 2: Magerks vs. Randazzo’s Pizza

Magerks jump out quickly, plating five in the top of the first thanks to a Frank Turco double and triples from Anthony Maddonni and Brian Hilbert. Randazzo’s pulls one back in the bottom of the frame thanks to Pete Corrigan’s leadoff triple and a sac fly. Magerks add a run in the top of the fourth on a sac fly. In the bottom of the fourth, Randazzo’s tally four on a few singles, an error, and with Brian Jamison and Harry Steglich smacking back to back triples. In the top of the fifth, Magerks tacks on another pair of runs on a walk, three singles, and a sac fly. Randazzo’s pokes six singles and take a 9-8 lead with a four run frame. In the sixth, Randazzo’s bats around, forcing a few errors, hitting six singles, Jimmy Byrne ripping two doubled, and Anthony Miller launching not one, but two dingers as they plate a whopping 11 runs. Magerks would go down quietly in the top of the seventh as Randazzo’s slam the door on a 20-8 victory.

Man of the Match: Anthony Miller (2-5, 2 R, 2 HR, 6 RBI)


Game 3: Philly’s Phinest vs. Randazzo’s Pizza

Jimmy Byrne cranks a solo homer and Brian Jamison rips a double as Randazzo’s take an early two run lead in the bottom of the first. In the top of the second, Philly’s Phinest draw a pair of walks and hit three singles to plate three. In the top of the third, they keep rolling with seven runs thanks to doubles from Keenan McCafferty, Mike Rocks Sr., and Tony Summers, plus triples off the bats of Valentino Mendez nd Mike Repici. Five Singles and a double from Mike Repici in the top of the fourth tallies another four runs for Philly’s Phinest. In the bottom of the frame, Randazzo’s plates a pair of runs on a fielder’s choice and three singles, doubling their output. In the top of the seventh, Philly’s Phinest add another three runs on singles and errors, putting the final touch on this game. Philly’s Phinest steamroll Randazzo’s Pizza and win 18-4.

Man of the Match: Mike Repici (3-4, 3 R, 2B, 3B, 4 RI)


Game 4: Hambinos vs. Baron Von Fritz

Nick Heller crushes a solo big fly in the top of the first, getting Hambinos on the board. Baron Von Fritz respond with a five run frame, featuring Dan Keith and Frankie Fusco triples in addition to a walk and a few singles. In the bottom of the second, they continue with three runs as Craig Steward launched a two run bomb. Hambinos get back on the board in the top of the third on a sac fly and a Mark Peasly triple to score two. In the bottom of the frame, Baron Von Fritz matches that with another Craig Stewart two run homer to establish a 10-3 lead. In the top of the fourth, Hambinos plate another pair, drawing a walk, forcing two errors, and poking a few singles. In the bottom of the sixth, Baron Von Fritz get a double from Chris Salanik and a few singles and a sac fly to tack on another pair of runs. Baron Von Fritz defeat Hambinos 12-5.
