Game 1: Hambinos vs. Dirt Stars

Dirt Stars get on the board first in the bottom of the first, as Jeff Sywulak, Dan Owens, and Bob McHugh rip three straight doubles to help drive in four runs. Hambinos respond in the top of the second with a pair of runs thanks to four consecutive singles. In the bottom of the second, those two runs are matched by Dirt Star doubles, this time from Miles Davis and Brett Rumer. In the top of the third, Hambinos bat around and plate 10 runs by forcing one error, hitting a sac fly, and poking 11 singles, taking a 12-6 lead. Not backing down, John Boyle ropes a two run triple and Paul Reiner cranks a two run bomb as Dirt Stars tally four in the bottom of the third. After a scoreless fourth, the top of the fifth is lively with Tony Stevens and Bob Gower each doubling to score one and two runs, respectively. Dirt Stars respond with doubles from Brett Rumer and Joe Carpino while Jeff Sywulak launched a three run big fly to cut their deficit to just one run. In the bottom of the sixth, Dirt Stars go nuts, batting 19 times producing four doubles, and RBI triples off the bats of Dan Owens, Paul Reiner, and Anthony Magallanes to score a whopping 14 runs to take a gigantic lead. The game would end there as Dirt Stars power past Hambinos 28-15.

Man of the Match: Jeff Sywulak (4-4, 4 R, 2-2B, HR, 4 RBI)

Game 2: Dirt Stars vs. Philly’s Phinest

Dirt Stars draw first blood again with two runs scored in the top of the first, both crossing the dish on a Gary Brooks sacrifice fly. Philly’s Phinest knot it back up in the bottom of the frame on a sac fly of their own and a Tony Summers double. In the top of the second, Dirt Stars keep rolling with a three run frame with another sac fly and a triple from Kurt Siegel. The next inning Joe Carpino, Dan Owens, and Paul Rainer produce doubles while Jeff Sywulak smacks a triple as Dirt Stars plate six. Philly’s Phinest get one back in the bottom of the third thanks to Mike Repici doubling and scoring on the next play. In the top of the fourth, Mike Washeleski doubles and a pair of base hits put two back up on the board for Dirt Stars. In the bottom of the frame, Philly’s Phinest match that output with two runs of their own on an Ed Rocks double and a pair of singles, ending the inning down 13-5. Philly’s Phinest would come back to bat in the bottom of the sixth and bat around, drawing a walk, hittin one sac fly, poking nine singles, and getting a double from Valentino Mendez as they score ten runs to take a two run lead. In the top of the seventh, Dirt Stars come out and take advantage of a walk, smack two singles, and see Brett Rumer drive an RBI double, scoring four and retaking their lead. Backs against the wall, Philly’s Phinest get a pair of base knocks and Ray Rocks smacks an RBI double, as they plate a pair of runs, but fail to score the last run needed to take the game. This back and forth thriller between Dirt Stars and Philly’s Phinest ends tied at 17.

Man of the Match: Mike Repici (4-5, 3 R, 2-2B, 3 RBI)

Game 3: Baron Von Fritz vs. Philly’s Phinest

Baron Von Fritz charges right out of the gate with Jamie Kracht ripping a two run double and Frankie Fusco cranking an RBI triple leading to five runs in the top of the first. Philly’s Phinest respond with four runs thanks to back-to-back-to-back RBI doubles from Ray Rocks, Mike Smith, and Tony Summers. In the top of the third, Baron Von Fritz plates four runs, this time hitting five straight singles to score their runs. Valentino Mendez drives in two runs for Philly’s Phinest as he ripped a double, bringing his team to a three run deficit. Baron Von Fritz rope four straight doubles as Chris Salanik, Jamie Kracht, Dan Keith, and Frankie Fusco, combine to tally three runs to double their lead. In the bottom of the fifth, Mike Repici doubles and Philly’s Phinest poke four singles as they scrape two runs back. Chris Salanik rips a double and Matt Leasure ropes a triple for Baron Von Fritz in the top of the sixth, plating two runs. Philly’s Phinest then draw a walk and pop six straight singles to plate four runs in the bottom of the frame, now down only 14-12. In the top of the seventh, Baron Von Fritz force an error, draw two walks, hit a two run sac fly, while Frankie Fusco doubles, and Jamie Kracht triples as they bat around to score seven runs to take a huge lead. Down heading into the bottom of the seventh for the second straight game, Ed Rocks leads off the inning with a three bagger and he’d score on a fielder’s choice, but they’d only manage one more hit and finish their last stand with just one run. Baron Von Fritz finish off Philly’s Phinest, winning 21-13.

Men of the Match: Jamie Kracht (4-5, 4 R, 2-2B, 3B, RBI) and Frankie Fusco (4-5, 3 R, 2-2B, 3B, 5 RBI)
