Post by tommyC »

Game 1 – Sticky Bandits at Maggios
In the bottom of the first, Maggios set the tone for the game, putting up a 5-spot thanks to a 2-run homer from Brendon McCoy, a triple from Mike Tercha and a double from Donny Younger. They tacked on a second huge inning in the second, using McCoy’s RBI double and Alex Tamburino’s GRAND SLAM to take a 12-0 lead in the game
But the Bandits would battle back, putting up a huge 7-run inning of their own in the third, thanks to 6 singles and some costly walks and errors. Unfortunately for them, Maggios wasn’t done, as Mike Tercha’s double helped Maggios to equalize 4 of those comeback runs.
Down 17-7 in the fifth, TJ Cieri and Dom Vanzant hit B2B doubles, closing the gap to 17-10. But in the bottom half, Maggios kept on keepin’ on, as Tamburino tripled and Drake Sprouse doubled, helping them to score 4 more.
In the top of the sixth, fighting to come back, the Bandits mustered a lone run, falling well short.
Final Score: Maggios 21 Sticky bandits 11
Player of the Game: Alex Tamburino went 4 for 4 including a triple, homerun, 7 RBIs and 2 Runs Scored.

Game 2 – E’s Irish Pub at Sticky bandits
Tom Collins kicked off the game with a double for E’s and he’d later score, but Tom Koelzer blasted a 3-run bomb for the Bandits in the bottom half, putting his squad up 3-1.
Chris Collins helped to half the deficit with his double in the second and then his team regained the lead in the fourth, 5-3.
In the bottom half, the Bandits fought back again, using Don Vanzant and Nick Ryan’s B2B doubles to score 3 more, regaining the lead.
In the fifth, Tom Montuydas blasted a 3-run bomb, and then Mark Kenney crushed a GRAND SLAM in the seventh, helping E’s to take a 13-7 lead.
The Sticky Bandits were playing catch up with their last licks. Tom Koelzer did his part, blasting a one-out, 2-run homer, making it 13-9. TJ Cieri followed up with a triple…and then came a trio of singles. All of a sudden, it was a 13-11 game with 2 men on and just one out…but that’s how this one would end, as a fly out and ground out would follow.
Final Score: E’s Irish Pub 13 Sticky bandits 11
Player of the game: Mark Kenney’s grand slam was the difference, so he takes the honors. He went 2 for 4 with a homerun, 4 RBIs and a Run Scored.

Game 3 – Backdoor Sliders at Spartans
This one got ugly early. Joe Collins’ double helped the Sliders to plate 3 in the first and then doubles from Brian Hughes and Steven Martinez, plus a triple from Collins contributed to 6 more in the second. Keith Briggs’ double in the third helped chip in 2 more, giving the Backdoor Sliders a 13-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third.
A walk and 3 singles put the Spartans on the board, 13-2, before the Sliders took those runs right back in the fourth. The Spartans would plate 2 in the fifth and then 2 more in the sixth thanks to Matt Pasquale’s 2-run homer, making it a 14-6 game heading into the seventh.
The Sliders tacked on some insurance runs, as Blasé Contino led off the inning with a solo homer and then both Briggs and Scott Rothman doubled, helping to score 4 more. In the bottom half, trailing 18-6, Mike Gledhill tripled, scoring one batter later for the Spartans, but that was all she wrote.
Final Score: Backdoor Sliders 18 Spartans 7
Player of the Game: Joe Collins fell just a homer short of the cycle, going 3 for 4 with a double, triple, 3 RBis and a Run Scored.

Game 4 – Legends at Backdoor Sliders
3-up and 3-down was not the start the Legends were looking for, and the Sliders capitalized, scoring 2 runs on 4 hits in the bottom of the first. They tacked on 5 more in the second behind Keith Briggs’ lead off double.
After a trio of singles led to the Legends first run, the Sliders padded their stats with 4 more runs in the third. Briggs and partner-in-crime Nick Entantagus both doubled, leading the way.
The Legends, down 12-1, showed some life in the sixth, taking advantage of B2B doubles from Pat Feliciani and Jimmy Beaumeister to plate 3 runs. In the bottom half, Blasé Conteau kicked off the inning for the Sliders with a double. Later, John Aiken would double and Brian hughes would triple ad the Sliders extended their lead to 16-4.
Looking to do the impossible, the Legends got the first two baserunners on in the seventh, and they’d both score, but that’d be the end of it.
Final Score: Backdoor Sliders 16 Legends 6
Player of the Game: Keith Briggs went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs and 2 Runs Scored.

Game 5 – State Reps at Legends
This season has not been kind to the State Reps, and this game was more of the same. An early run gave them a 1-0 lead, but it’d be their last of the game, as Jimmy Beaumeister led the legends to a 9-run first with his double.
Pete Herbert blasted a solo homer for the Reps in the second, but then Mark McLaughlin and Pat Feliciani doubled in the third for Legends, extending the lead to 11-2.
The crushing blow came in the fourth, as a ton of singles and a pair of back-breaking triples from Beaumeister and Dennis De’Angelo amounted to another 9-run inning, making it a 20-2 game.
If they wanted to play more softball, the Reps would need to score at least 4 in the fifth…they got 2, but that wasn’t enough.
Final Score: Legends 20 State Reps 4
Player of the Game: Jimmy Beaumeister went 4 for 4 with a double, triple, 4 RBIs and 3 Runs Scored.

Game 6 – Sticky Bandits at Spartans
The Bandits struck early and often, making this one not much of a game in the end. 3 singles amounted to 3 runs in the first and then 2 singles added up to 2 runs in the second. It took 2 singles to score 1 run in the third, and before they knew it, the Spartans were in a 6-0 hole.
The Spartans responded, using 3 singles to plate 2 runs in the third before the Bandits went back to work, capitalizing on 3 singles to score another 2 runs in the fourth.
Entering the sixth, it was a 8-2 ball game and neither team had an extra base hit to their credit. Ut that changed in the sixth as Sean Hartman led off with a double and later scored. In the seventh, noth Hartman and TJ Cieri would double en route to a 5-run inning, giving the Bandits a 14-2 lead.
Looking to come back from waaay down, the Spartans got a little offense going, using 2 singles and 2 walks…but they’d only plate 2 and that’s how it’d end.
Final Score: Sticky Bandits 14 Spartans 4
Player of the game: Sean Hartman went 5 for 5 with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs and 4 Runs Scored.
