Lukens III

Game 1: HG Coal Fired Pizza vs. Bulldogs

Bulldogs strike first in the bottom of the first as Mike Suda doubled in addition to three singles and two sac flies to score three runs. The next inning, Kyle Simms doubles, Anthony Bates drives him in with a triple, and Mike Suda launches a two run bomb as Bulldogs double their output. In the bottom of the third, John Hogan smacks a solo big fly to put Bulldogs up seven. HG wakes up in the top of the fourth with Andrew Parker roping a double and Mike Marcelline slapping a double to get four runs on the board. In the top of the sixth, a one out sac fly plates another run for HG. Neither team would manage another run in this game. A shorthanded Bulldogs team defeats HG Coal Fired Pizza 7-5.

Man of the Match: Mike Suda (3-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI)


Game 2: Hambinos vs. Dirt Stars

In the top of the first, Hambinos waste no time in getting a lead with a three run frame with Spencer Slutsky doubling and Matt Schlack driving in a pair. Dirt Stars respond in the bottom of the frame by batting around and plating seven runs highlighted by a Dan Roper two run triple. Hambinos get within one by scoring three in the top of the second with Matt Schalck driving in another pair, this time on a triple. Three singles lead to a lone run for Dirty Dozen in the bottom of the second. Batting around in the top of the third, Hambinos plate five on a pair of walks, four singles, and Mark Peasley’s two run triple. A trio each of walks and singles end up netting four runs for Dirt Stars in the bottom of the third as they take a one run lead. Hambinos plates a pair to retake the lead in the top of the fourth on an error, a walk, a pair of singles, and a sac fly before Dirt Stars take it right back as Gary Brooks and Kevin Elmer double and Bobby McHugh triples to make it 14-13. In the bottom of the fifth, Joe Tulino started the inning off with a triple and was driven in with a two-out base knock to put Dirt Stars up two. Hambinos manages to plate one in the top of the sixth as Mark Peasley’s double drives it in. However, they’d end up just shy of a comeback. Dirt Stars sip past Hambinos, winning 15-14 in six innings.

Man of the Match: Kevin Elmer (4-5, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI)


Game 3: SCLSU Mud Dogs vs. Dirt Stars

Dirt Stars get off on the right foot in the bottom of the first, plating two which were driven in by Gary Brooks on a base knock. Mud Dogs respond the next inning by taking the lead on five runs on a walk, a sac fly, and six singles. In the top of the third, they tack another one on off a pair of singles. In the top of the fourth, Kavit Solanki roped a double and scored for Mud Dogs and in the top of the fifth, Josh Figueroa ripped a triple and scored on a sac fly. Four singles, a sac fly, and Dan Roper’s double help Dirt Stars score three in the bottom of the fifth. Mud Dogs keep rolling in the top of the sixth with Sam Matos driving in a pair. In the top of the seventh, Matt Greever’s triple helped drive in a pair. Mud Dogs coast to a 12-5 victory over Dirt Stars.

Game 4: Harrigan’s Pub vs. SCLSU Mud Dogs

Harrigan’s jumps out to a two run lead in the top of the first thanks to Jay Mykrantz bringing them both in on a base hit. Mud Dogs take the lead in the bottom of the first when two walks and three singles produce three runs. In the top of the second, Harrigan’s comes storming back, plating six runs including a bases clearing triple from Greg Thompson, a triple from Jay Mykrantz, and a rare two run sac fly. Kavit Solanki smashes a two run dinger for Mud Dogs in the bottom of the second. Andy Keyser’s triple and Jay Mykrantz’s double helped Harrigan’s drop another four runs in the top of the third. In the top of the fifth, three singles help score another Harrigan’s run. Mud Dogs get back on the board in the bottom of the frame with two runs on four singles. Harrigan’s gets a run on a walk and three singles, adding to their lead in the top of the sixth. Mud Dogs match them in the bottom of the frame, thanks to a pair of singles and a sac fly. In the top of the seventh, Andy Keyser ripped a triple to drive in a pair to help seal the game. Harrigan’s doubles up on Mud Dogs, winning 16-8.

Man of the Match: Jay Meikrantz (5-5, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI)

Game 2: Dirty Dozen vs. Baron Von Fritz

Three runs come in for Dirty Dozen in the top of the firstoff of four singles. Baron Von Fritz took a run back in the bottom of the frame as they took advantage of two errors and a sac fly. In the top of the second, Mike Ivers ripped a double and scored for Dirty Dozen on a two out single. BVF bats around in the bottom of the second, scoring seven runs with Chris Salanik and Uuss Conklin each driving in a pair on a base knock and a dinger, respectively. Anthony Mumenthaler smashes a leadoff homer to score another Dirty Dozen run. In the top of the fourth, Dirty Dozen plate a pair on a single, a Mike Ivers double, and a Kyle Hutter triple. Russ Conklin smacks his second two run homer in the bottom of the fourth for BVF. James McHale does the same in the top of the fifth, helping them score three runs to get within one run. In the top of the sixth, Dirty Dozen force an error, poke two singles, and Rob Akers smacks an RBI double to take the lead. BVF ‘s Jay Payne flexes and smashes a Grand Slam to help plate five runs. Dirty Dozen manage a pair of singles in the top of the seventh, but fail to score a run. Baron Von Fritz defeats Dirty Dozen 15-11.
