B North 9/8

Ballz Deep currently rules the roost, The One Hit Wonders are looking for revenge, and the rest of B North is hungry as ever to finish 2019 as champions. Which team will secure the bag (of t shirts) in the Fall? Let’s find out…

Game 1: Amber Inn v One Hit Wonders

The fiery attitude of Amber Inn was evident early as the early birds caught the worm to the tune of 3 runs in the first inning, highlighted by a Jeff Johnson leadoff double, and a gaggle of singles. Still licking their wounds, One Hit Wonders scratched out a run of their own via walks and a fielder’s choice. They followed that up with a little life, scratching out another run in the top of the 2nd on singles. The 3rd inning saw both team notch a run with Amber Inn scratching one out via singles and the Wonder’s scoring on One Hit as Andy Springer cracked a solo homer. Neither team would score again until the 6th inning when Marc Mckinney smoked an RBI double and scored himself to keep Amber Inn in the lead. THe resilient OHWs battled back down 3 as Jared Owens homered in the bottom of the 6th to cut the deficit to two combined with singles and a BIll Graff triple scoring in the 7th to knot the score and take it extras. In the 8th, Amber Inn took an early lead as they would plate their runner on a single to go up one. The Wonders once again dug deep though singles, and a 2 run bomb from Jesse Grasso to pull ahead for good, ending this battle 10-7.

Game 2: Insurance Runs v Ballz Deep

RIVALRY GAME! Nothing better than a heated contest to get the fall started. Insurance Runs gets on the board first as they hammer home a run on three singles. After cutting Curt Hensman, Ballz Deep is able to answer with a run of their own via singles to knot the score. They would follow that up with two more runs in the bottom of the 2nd as Jim Gorman smoked a double and Jason Falcone brought him in with a two run dinger. Insurance Runs stormed back in the 3rd inning, plating 5 runs highlighted by doubles from Brian Leonetti and Joe Rowan, as well as a homer from Rick Leonetti, proving himself to be the superior Leonetti. Ballz Deep would match the 5 runs in their at bat, with singles and a three run bomb from Jason Falcone did the damage. The 4th is where Insurance Runs took this one over as they plate 13 runs in a massive bat around which included doubles from the Leonettis and Colin Beatty, triples from Josh Hannum and Keith Maduziz, and big jacks from Rick Leonetti and Matt Freedman. Ballz Deep answered the rally with a run of their own in the 4th on walks and singles. In the 6th inning Matt Freedman once again doubled in a run for the Insurance boys, and Ballz Deep broke out for a big 4 spot by way of another Falcone double, but that was all they could muster, falling in this one, 21 to 13. Insurance Runs stating postgame: “Hanna who?”

Game 3: Insurance Runs v Misfits

The Eagles were on so I assume that the Misfits got a group deal on tickets. Insurance Runs wins via forfeit 7-0.

Game 4: Dark Horse v Yankee Clippers

Dark Horse takes a stand early as the first four batters watch pitches, walk, and all score. The Yankee Clippers cut the deficit in half in the bottom half of the inning as AnD.R.E. O’Donnell doubled and Nick “socks” Wasekanes cranked a two run homer. The Yankee Clippers would extend their lead in the 3rd as a Jason Hudachek double, combined with a Nick Mariani three bagger plated two runs. Down but not out, the Clippers fired back in the bottom half of the inning, plating 4 to tie the game by way of doubles from John Bennett, Connor Lagaice, and Lonnie Snyder, combined with a huge triple from Mike O’Conner. The Dark Horse squad would break the tie as Mr. Hudachek doubled in a run in the 4th inning and they plate two more in the 5th via an Alex Amador double and two sacs. Down 3 the Clips rallied back in a big way as every batter in the lineup got a hit in a bat around including doubles from Wasekanes, O’Connor, Bennett and Nick Todd, plating a gigantic 8 spot. Down 5 the Dark Horse hitting brigade rallied in the 7th inning with triples from Bill Jones and Dave Ketterlinus, and doubles from Jimmy Walker and Mike Montemuro bringing in 4, but unfortunately, despite have runners in scoring positions, they are unable to knock in another run and fall in this one, 14-13.
