Game 1: Baron Von Fritz vs. HG Coal Fired Pizza

Baron Von Fritz draws three walks in the top of the first, bringing in one run on a sac fly to get on the board. In the top of the second, they plate five as they show more patience with three free passes and take advantage of errors committed by the defense. BVF tacks on another four in the top of the third, now finding themselves up 10. This wakes up HG, who see Brendan Parker and Mike Marcelline smack balls into the trees en route to five runs. In the top of the fifth, Russ Conklin and Drew Fitzhertart smack doubles to plate three more for BVF. The next frame, BVF bats around by drawing a walk, forcing a couple errors, poking six singles, and with Andy Ambruch ripping a double as they tally eight more runs. In the bottom of the sixth, Andrew Parker smacks a triple and Mike Marcelline roped a double to produce three runs for HG. Down big in the bottom of the seventh, Brendan Parker smacks a three run big fly, but HG would be unable to gain any more ground. Baron Von Fritz smashes HG Coal Fired Pizza 21-11.

Man of the Match: Andy Ambruch (2-4, 3 R, BB, 2B, 2 RBI)


Game 2: HG Coal Fired Pizza vs. Dirty Dozen

HG jumps out to a quick three run lead with Justin Knapp and Andrew Parker doubling in addition to a sac fly. Andrew Parker then launches a two run dinger in the top of the second to get HG in front by five. Dirty Dozen wake up and draw a walk and poke a couple singles along with Kyle Hutter ripping a triple to plate a pair. In the bottom of the fifth, Erik Stoztak ropes a leadoff triple and James McHale and Mike Ivers hit RBI doubles to tie the game at five. Angelo Vitantonio doubled to set the table for Dirty Dozen to take a two run lead heading into the last inning. HG goes down 1-2-3 in the top of the seventh to seal Dirty Dozen’s 7-5 victory.

Game 3: Bulldogs vs. Harrigan’s Pub

Bulldogs jump out to a big seven run lead by batting around on a pair of walks, seven singles, and John Hogan’s double. Rick Branning smacked a two run big fly to get Harrigan’s on the board in the bottom of the frame. Bulldogs manage two runs on four singles and a sac fly. In the bottom of the second, Harrigan’s tacks on another run on a pair of singles and a walk. The next inning, Harrigan’s generates two walks and three singles while John Norman and Tim Chiarolanza ripped doubles. Thanks to a pair of singles, Bulldogs earn themselves a run in the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the inning, John Norman crushes a two run, game tying dinger. Will OVerton reestablishes Bulldogs’ lead with a two run big fly in the top of the fifth. Rick Branning re-tied the game with a two run bomb in the bottom of the fifth, then Anthony Braciszewski drove in two more on his base knock. Mike Suda homers to tie the game in the top of the sixth, setting up extra innings after both teams failed to score in the seventh. In the top of the eighth, Nick Alberino smashed a three run bomb to help Bulldogs to a four run cushion. Harrigan’s can’t manage a single hit on the bottom of the eighth and fall to Bulldogs 18-14 in a back-and-forth thriller.

Game 4: Harrigan’s Pub vs. Dirt Stars

Harrigan’s, fresh off a tough loss, take advantage of a pair of errors in the top of the first and get doubles from John Norman and Anthony Braciszewski as they jump out to a fur run lead. They add four more in the second on four singles and another Anthony Braciszewski double. In the top of the third, Harrigan’s extends their lead to nine by plating a run on four singles. Dirt Stars make an appearance on the scoreboard thanks to Joe Carpino launching a two run dinger into the woods. In the top of the fourth, Harrigan’s explodes for 12 runs, batting around on three walks, eight singles, and two extra base hits (a double and a triple), both of which came off the bat of Tim Chiarolanza. Having a ton of work to do to catch up, Dirt Stars plate one in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the bottom of the fifth, highlights by doubles from Joe Carpino and Myles Davis, the latter of which hit two. Unfortunately, Dirt Stars were overmatched in this one, getting destroyed by Harrigan’s Pub 21-5.

Game 3: Hambinos vs. SCLSU Mud Dogs

Hambinos make use of two sac flies and an Ed Hainsworth double to take a quick four run lead in the top of the first. Mud Dogs respond with a five run bottom of the first, getting doubles from Sam Matos, Jason Figueroa, and Daulton Pickersgill and a triple from Trevor Lane. Three singles and three passes end up getting Hambinos three in the top of the second as they retake their lead. Mark Peasley rips a triple in the top of the third, leading Hambinos to another three runs. Trevor Lane’s leadoff triple allowed him to score Mud Dogs’ only run in the bottom of the third. They tack on another two in the fourth on singles as they now find themselves down two. In the bottom of the fifth, Matt Greever doubled and Josh and Matt Figueroa each tripled to help Mud Dogs tally five runs, establishing a lead they would not relinquish. Mud Dogs defeat Hambinos 13-10.
