B North September 19

Fall is the best time of the year for football, bonfires, beers, pumpkins, and demolishing softballs. After a weird schedule change or 7, lets see how the team fared in week 1.

Game 1: Bulldogs v One Hit Wonders

The Bulldogs open their season with 2 runs on doubles from Paul Burtis and John Hogan. Johnny Hoges would once again do damage in the 3rd as he triples and scores. They would continue to push across runs as Mike Suda cranked a solo homer to lead a 3 run 4th inning. A good ol’ fashioned bat around would lead to a thrilling 7th inning comeback as they plate 6 runs on singles, errors and a Ben Vitelli two bagger.
The One Hit Wonders were firing on all cylinders early in this one as they plate 5 in the first inning on doubles from Jesse Grasso, Andy Springer and a triple from Colby Schoeller. Mike Trivino would join the extra base hit party in the 2nd as he doubles in a run and scores. In the 3rd, Bil Groff and Jack Stepnowski would smack back to back triples, combining with a double from Grasso to push across 4 more runs. The bats would go a little quiet until the 5th inning when triples from Grasso and Trivino plate three. Doubles from Schoeller and Groff would cap their scoring for the day as they plate two more runs in the 6th inning.

Final Score: One Hit Wonders 15 - Bulldogs 12

Game 2: Dark Horse v Ball Busters

Dark Horse would get on the board for the first time in the 2nd inning as singles and walks from the bottom of the order plate 3 runs. A Zach Adams triple, combined with a laser double from Jordan Moffitt would help plate 3 more in the 3rd. Singles and a walk would cap their scoring for the day as they plate an all important run in the 5th.
The new kids on the block, the Ball Busters lived up to their name starting the game off with a run in the 1st inning on singles. They would follow that up with a run in the 4th as Jay Stein cranked a two-bagger and scored. Mike Marceline and Zach Lyle would each smack doubles and combine with a gaggle of singles to plate 7 runs as they bat around in the 5th. Another bat around came in the 6th as they would hammer the rock to the tune of 13 runs highlighted by triples from Andrew Parker, and Neil Herbert combined with about 27 singles.

Final Score: Ball Busters 18 - Dark Horse 7

Game 3: Dark Horse v WIre2Wire

Dark Horse got the offense going quicker in this one as they plate 6 runs over the first two innings in large part do to doubles from Paul Harding, Jason Hudachek, and Paul Ferruzzi. They would not fire up the scoring machine again until the 5th inning when errors plate two runs and errors would plate another in the 6th.
Wire2Wire did typical Wire2Wire things as they plate 4 in the first highlighted by a leadoff triple from Greg high socks Guarino. Matt Morgan would double and score in the 2nd to make it a one run game. While errors and singles would plate 1 in the 3rd, they would explode in the 4th for 3 runs by way of a double from Jacob McDevitt. They would also add two more runs in the 5th on singles and two runs in the 6th on singles and sac flies.

Final Score: Wire2Wire 12 - Dark Horse 9
