Game 1: Dirt Stars vs. Sunday Scaries
The first runs in this game came in the bottom of the first as Sunday Scaries jumped out to a five run lead on the backs of doubles from Zack Downs and Kris Karaba and a two run dinger from Josh Persing. The next frame, Sunday Scaries scored a run via a sac fly. In the top of the third, Dirt Stars got on the board thanks to Dan Owens driving in Dan Curran on a base knock. In the bottom of the third, Bobby Scholly tripled and scored a run for Sunday Scaries. The next inning, Sunday Scaries batted around and scored a healthy 13 runs highlighted by doubles from Zack Downs, Kris Karaba, Dave McCaughley, and Colin Kelly, a two run bomb from Adam Allman, and a three run homer from Josh Persing. The onslaught ended thanks to a homerun past Hatfield’s limit. The next frame, Dirt Stars went down 1-2-3 and the mercy rule came into effect. Sunday Scaries crushed Dirt Stars 20-1.

Man of the Match: Josh Persing (3-3, 3 R, SAC, 2 HR, 6 RBI)

Game 2: Dirt Stars vs. Magerks
A Kevin McNamara triple helped Dirt Stars jump out to a two run lead in the top of the first. In the bottom of the frame, Magerks tied it up on three singles and a sac fly. Displaying a lot of patience, Dirt Stars batted around in the top of the second by drawing five walks and seeing back-to-back dingers from Dan Owens (a Grand Slam) and Shawn Mackley as they scored seven. Magerks responded with another two run inning, plating each run on a sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the third, two more crossed the dish for Magerks, this time from a pair of walks and a pair of singles John Boyle launched Dirt Stars’ second Grand Slam of the contest, helping his team tally five runs in the top of the fourth. Two singles and a Dan Curran double plated two more for Dirt Stars in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the frame, a Bill Schubert base knock accounted for a run for Magerks. Continuing to roll, Dirt Stars got a two run base hit from Dan Curran in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the frame, another sac fly plated a run for Magerks. Down to their last turn, Brian Hilbert smashed a three run bomb into the trees as Magerks plated four runs, but they’d fall well short of a comeback. Dirt Stars defeated Magerks 18-12.

Man of the Match: Dan Curran (3-4, 3 R, BB, 2B, 4 RBI)

Game 3: Philly’s Phinest vs. Magerks
Two walks, three singles, and a sacrifice fly put three runs on the board for Magerks in the bottom of the first. Philly’s Phinest got themselves on the board in the top of the fifth thanks to Tony Summers’ leadoff dinger and a bases loaded walk drawn by John Quartullo. The next inning, they took the lead with another two run frame, this time taking advantage of a walk and four singles. In the bottom of the sixth, Magerks got a two run blast from Steve Johnson and tacked on another run via base knocks to take a two run lead. Philly’s Phinest managed to get a few runners aboard, but none would score as they’d lose this defensive battle to Magers by a score of 6-4.

Game 3: Cifelli’s Sunoco vs. Sons of Pitches
Cifelli’s jumped out to a quick two run lead in the top of the opening frame with Sam Ryan smacking a triple and Mike Schoenagle driving in a run on a base knock. Sons of Pitches respond by taking a one run lead in the bottom of the inning with Brett Keszczyk ripping a double and Joe Stankovics driving in a pair. Blake Hidebrandt smoked a two run double in the top of the second, heping Cifelli’s plate three. An error and a pair of singles helped Sons take a run back in the bottom of the second. The top of the third was silent, then Sons of Pitches got a two run triple off the bat of Joey Giampietro to take a slim lead. In the top of the fourth, Mike Schoenagel smacked a double to score a run for Cifelli’s. Paul Elliot and Josh Keszczyk break the tie by driving in a run each in the bottom of the fourth. Doubles from Blake Hlidebrandt and Mike Schoenagle helped plate three runs for Cifell’s in the top of the fifth. Then, in the top of the sixth, they batted around on an error, a walk, six singles, a two run sac fly, and another Blake Hildebrandt double to plate seven. In the bottom of the sixth, Josh Kesczyk launched a three run bomb to help Sons start to claw their way back. After a back-and-forth six innings, neither team managed to get on the board in the seventh. Cifelli’s Sunoco beat Sons of Pitches in an offensive thriller by a score of 16-12.

Man of the Match: Blake Hildebrandt (4-6, 4 R, 3-2B, 4 RBI)
