Game 1: Philly’s Phinest vs. Dirt Stars

Philly’s Phinest get on the board quickly in the top of the first, riding five singles, a walk, and an error to a five run lead. Dirt Stars respond in the bottom of the second with a single run scored by taking advantage of two errors. In the top of the third, five singles create three more runs for Philly’s Phinest. In the bottom of the frame, Dirt Stars put up a five run frame highlighted by Brett Rumer’s leadoff double and Miles Davis’ two run triple as they finish the inning down just 8-6. Tony Summers led the top of the fifth off by ripping a double, then four base knocks help round out a four run frame for Philly’s Phinest. Dirt Stars manage to scrape a run back in the bottom of the fifth by drawing a walk and poking a pair of singles. In the top of the seventh, Tyler Hancock and Tim Phillips rope doubles as Philly’s Phinest add two insurance runs. Down seven in the bottom of the seventh, Dirt Stars get doubles from Paul Rainer and Jeff Sywulak and plate a few runs off an error, but they’d only plate four, falling short in their bid for a comeback. Philly’s Phinest bring down the Dirt Stars, winning 14-11.

Man of the Match: Tyler Hancock (4-4, 2 R, 2B, 3 RBI)

Game 2: Dirt Stars

In the top of the first, Hitmen force three errors to help them jump out to a four run lead. In the bottom of the frame, Dirt Stars halve their deficit thanks in large part to a Mike Wahseleski solo dinger. The next inning, they tie the game as Gary Brooks knocked in a pair by smacking a double. Hitmen retake their lead in the top of the third, forcing two more errors, and getting an RBI double off the bat of Kevin Conner. Dirt Stars come alive in the bottom of the third, batting around by forcing a pair of errors, poking four singles, Jeff Sywulak smacking a double, Paul Rainer ripping a double and a triple, Anthony Magallanes roping a triple, and Dan Curran cranking a two run homer, pushing 10 runs across the dish. In the bottom of the fifth, they tack on four more with Dan Curran leading off the frame with another big fly and with Shawn Mackley and Paul Rainer roping triples. Hitmen get another pair of runs back by hitting four consecutive singles in the top of the sixth, Scott Rothman and John Aiken collecting RBIs. In the bottom of the sixth, Dirt Stars open with six straight hits including doubles from Mike Washeleski and Dan Curran, on their way to plating five runs and calling in the mercy rule. Dirt Stars trounce Hitmen 23-8.

Man of the Match: Dan Curran (4-4, 4 R, 2B, 2 HR, 4 RBI)

Game 3: Dirty Dozen vs. Hitmen

Dirty Dozen jump out to a three run lead thanks to a two run single from Kevin Bauer and doubles from Ben Vitelli and Todd Gibson. They tack on another one in the top of the third as Todd Gibson doubled, then scored on a base knock. In the top of the fifth, Nick Vitelli launches a solo big fly, then an error, a sac, fly and two singles lead to three runs for Dirty Dozen. Hitmen finally get on the board in the bottom of the sixth thanks to Brian Hughes driving in both runs with a single. Nick Vitelli comes up with another solo homer, this one providing Dirty Dozen’s last run of the game. Down six in the bottom of the seventh, Hitmen manage a couple baserunners, but nothing more. Hitmen fall to Dirty Dozen 8-2.

Man of the Match: Nick Vitelli (2-3, 3 R, BB, 2 HR, 2 RBI)

Game 4: Dirty Dozen vs. Baron Von Fritz

Kyle Hutter led game 4 off with a double and Nick Vitelli drove him in to get Dirty Dozen on the board first with a run in the top of the opening frame. In the bottom of the first, Brandon Rock led off with a double of his own and he later scored on a sac fly, tying the game at one. Dirty Dozen open the game up a little, getting two run doubled from Kyle Hutter and Ben Vitelli on their way to five runs. In the bottom of the third, four singles plate two more runs for Baron Von Fritz, now down just three. Dirty Dozen get a triple from Ben Vitelli followed by a double from Nick Vitelli as they score another three runs and double their lead. Baron Von Fritz tack another run on in the bottom of the fourth, then in the fifth, smack a few singles and get a two run triple from Chris Salanik as they score four to finish the inning down 9-8. In the top of the sixth, Dirty Dozen bat around, getting seven singles and a Ben Vitelli double as they plate six, opening a sizeable lead. Baron Von Fritz manage to bat around their lineup as well, drawing three walks, smacking four singles, and scoring five runs. Unfortunately, the seventh wouldn't be played in this one as Dirty Dozen outlast Baron Von Fritz, winning 15-13.

Man of the Match: Ben Vitelli (3-4, 3 R, 2-2B, 3B, 3 RBI)
