9.30.18 - B-West

Post by tommyC »

Kicking off an abridged week one in the Wild West with some great weather.

Game 1 – The Expendables at Randazzos
Randazzos took an early 3-1 lead thanks to Justin Mahmde’s 2-RBI triple before the Expendables answered back in the second with a 6-run inning, sparked by Joe Kindt’s RBI double.
The Expendables added to their lead in the fourth as Bill Larkin tripled and Kevin Heron doubled, helping 3 runs to cross the dish. The in the sixth, 12 runners scored. Ray Brittingham’s triple paved the way. Pete Donnelly added his own triple and also a double while Bill Larkin and Joe Kindt doubled as well. By the time the dust cleared, the Expendables led 23-7.
Looking to make a miraculous comeback, Randazzos quickly loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth (what would be the last inning because of time), but could only force two across.
Final Score: The Expendables 23 Randazzos 9
Player of the Game: Pete Donnelly went 4 for 6 including 2 doubles, a triple, 5 RBIs and 3 Runs scored.

Game 2 – Jackhammers at Hatricks
The Jackhammers struck first blood, using a trio of singles to score 2 in the first. Then in the third, Hatricks knotted the game at 2 thanks to Ron Gallagher’s 2-RBI double.
The teams traded runs in the fourth before the Jackhammers exploded in the fifth. 5 singles, a walk, an error, and a timely 3-run double from Mike Wadsworth did the damage as the Jackhammers took the 10-3 lead.
Hatricks couldn’t get any offense going the rest of the way, so the Jackhammers were able to hold on.
Final Score: Jackhammers 10 Hatricks 3
Player of the Game: Rob Wardrop went 3 for 4 including a double, RBI and 2 Runs Scored.
