Catching up on all of the action from 10/21 and 11/4


10/21

Game 1: Ballz deep v One Hit Wonders

Ballz Deep hammered home 4 in the first on walks singles and a double by Gene Walczak. Following that outburst they were able to bring in another 4 spot highlighted by Geno’s 2nd double and a double by Jacob McDevitt. Answering the bell, the Wonders were able to bring in 5 of their own in the bottom of the 2nd on walks, singles, and a Jesse Grasso double. In the bottom of the 4th, the Wonders would take the lead plating four runs, highlighted by a Josh Parker triple. Both teams would score in the 5th inning as Ballz Deep got two via a Jim Gorman double and the Wonders plate 3 by way of a Jimmy Cooker triple. In the 6th inning the Ballz got another 3 runs by way of a Justin Glennon double, and they would follow that up with another 4 runs on walks and singles in the 7th. Down 5 and heading into their last at bat, the Wonders hammered home 6 runs highlighted by walks, singles and a Derek Strowhauer double to walk off to a final score of 18-17.

Game 2: Insurance Runs v One Hit Wonders


The Insurance Runs got on the board first as they would plate 3 runs in the 1st inning on doubles from Colin Beatty and Brandon Quinn. Singles and errors would cut the deficit for the Wonders in the bottom half of the inning as they score two. Walks, singles, and a Brian Hickey double would push across 3 more runs for the IRs in the top of the 2nd and once again the Wonders would cut into the lead as they score a run on an error. The 3rd inning belonged to the Wonders as they would follow up solid defense with a 5 run outburst, highlighted by a Jimmy Cooker triple. In the top of the 4th and the 5th, the IRs combined to score 7 runs as they would get big contributions from Seth Mattlemen who doubled and homered. For the Wonders, they would plate two over those innings on a solo homer from Derek S. and singles. The IRs would ice the game in the top of the 7th as they plate 5 more runs on singles and another Mattlemen double to lock up a 17-10 win.

Game 3: Amber Inn v Insurance Runs

Amber Inn got their scoring started in the 2nd inning as they got a run via walks and errors. In the top of the fourth, they would hammer home 6 more runs by way of errors, and doubles from Dave Graves, Bill Steinberg, and John Fine. A Corey Carlon double would help the Inn plate another run in the 5th inning. Capping the scoring for Amber Inn was a John Fine RBI triple in the top of the 6th inning. The Insurance Runs were able to plate a run in the 1st on singles to start their scoring in this contest. In the 2nd inning, they would bat around to the tune of 7 runs on walks, singles, and a Colin Beatty bases clearing triple. In the 3rd they would plate 3 more on walks and singles. Continuing to score the IRs plate a whopping 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth highlighted by doubles from Colin Beatty and Keith Matizuia. Closing the lid on this one, the IRs hammered home an additional 6 runs in the 6th inning on a 3 run bomb from Matt Hickey and a triple from Rick Leonetti to zip it up to the tune of a 22-9 win.

Game 4: Amber Inn v Yankee Clippers

Amber Inn got the scoring started in the top of the 1st as Dave Graves doubled in a run. Bill Steinberg would keep the scoring coming in the 2nd as his leadoff double would help plate their 2nd run of the game. In the top of the 5th, singles and a John Fine double would plate 3 runs for the squad. Phil Klatch wrapped up the scoring for Amber Inn in the 7th as he would double in a run as well. The Yankee Clippers are able to plate 3 in the bottom of the 1st via doubles from Mike McDevitt and John Bennett. They would follow that up with another crooked number in the 3rd inning as Nick Wasekanes cranked a 2 run homer and Bennett/Mike O’Connor duo smoked back to back doubles helping score 5 runs. Doubles from Lonnie Snyder and “Mr. two bagger” John Bennett help plate four more runs in the 4th. Continuing the hit train in the 5th inning, the Clips got 6 additional runs on singles and a sac fly to close the door on this one 19-6.

Game 5: Yankee Clippers v Bulldogs

The Yankee Clippers began their scoring rampage in the top of the 1st as Andrew Breischaft lasered a two run homer. Doubles from Mike McDevitt and John Bennett, combined with back to back homers from Wasekanes and Breischaft helped plate 5 more runs in the 3rd. In the 4th inning it would be a triple from Nick Todd and a double from Rich Brazukis helping them score two more runs. THe 5th inning saw a scoring outburst from the Clips as walks, errors a double from John Bennett (because that’s all he does) and Dan Wilson homer plated a gargantuan 8 runs. A Brian Maguire double and a Andrew Hesdon solo bomb would each plate a run for the Clips over the last two innings to close their scoring for the day. The Bulldogs started their scoring as well in the 1st as John Hogan doubled and scored. An Anthony Bates double, combined with a Hogan three run homer put up a massive 5 spot for the boys in red in the 2nd. The 3rd and 4th innings each saw a run be scored via singles. In the 5th inning, the Bulldogs erupted for a massive 7 run score fiesta as Hogan, Lagomarsino and Nagle all doubled, and the duo of Shawn Dunn and Anthony Bates cranked back to back jacks. Walks and another Hogan double would plate a run for the Bulldogs in the 6th but that is all they are able to muster in this one as they fall 19-15.

Game 6: Dark Horse v Bulldogs

The Bulldogs got the scoring started in the bottom of the 1st as four singles help score 3 runs. In the top of the 2nd, the Dark Horse hitting machine got fired up to the tune of 11 runs highlighted by a double from Bill Jones, a triple from Paul Ferruzzi and homers from Paul Harding and Dave Ketterlinus. In the bottom of the inning, the Bulldogs cut into the deficit, scoring two on a John Hogan double. A Ferruzzi triple would help plate two more for the Horses in the 3rd. Fighting back once again, the Bulldogs hammered home 6 runs in the bottom of the 3rd by way of singles and a Matt Lagomarsino triple. Dark Horse once again had a huge inning in the 4th as they would bat around to the tune of 8 runs on singles and doubles from Jim Walker, Kyle Simms and Francis Ferruzzi. In the 6th inning DH would also get a solo homer from Bill Jones. The 5th and 6th innings overall would belong to the Bulldogs though as they score a huge 7 runs in the 5th on doubles from Lagomarsino, Dunn and Nagle, combined with a homer from Anthony Depaul. Down but not out they would storm back in the 6th inning plating another 5 runs on singles and an Anthony Bates homer to cut it to a two run game, but that would be as close as they could get as they fall in this one 25-23.

Game 1: Amber Inn V Ballz Deep

Amber Inn got their scoring started in the top of the 1st with 5 runs on singles, a triple from Chris Carlin and a homer from Marc McKinney. They followed that up with 3 more runs on singles in the top of the 3rd. In the 4th inning they are able to push across 3 runs via singles and a Carlin double. A Bill Steinberg solo homer followed up by a Brian McMackin triple highlight a 4 run 5th inning. Capping their scoring for the day was a monster 5 run 6th inning which saw Carl Erwin double, McMackin triple and Marc McKinney smoke a solo homer. Ballz Deep answered the bell all game as they are able to score one in the first on a triple from Tom Campbell and a double from Gene Walczak. In the 3rd inning, a triple from Matt Herbein and a double from Adrian Reyes plated two. The boys in blue and orange hammered home 3 runs in the 5th inning highlighted by a Reyes two run homer and a three bagger from lean mean Gene. A 10 run bat around would make it a close game in the 6th inning as walks, singles, and doubles from Geno and Jason Falcone helped score nearly everyone in the lineup. Unfortunately time was not on their side as they would fall 20-16.

Game 2: Amber Inn v One Hit Wonders

Amber Inn is able to plate two runs in the top of the 1st as Marc McKinney cranks a two run homer. They would follow that up in the 4th inning as a Bill Steinberg 3-run bomb highlighted a four run outburst. McKinney’s 2nd homer of the game would push across two more runs for the boys in red in the 6th inning, and a three run outburst in the 7th would cap the scoring for the day, highlighted by a Steinberg leadoff double. The One Hit Wonders got on the coard in the bottom of the 2nd as Derek Strowhauer doubled and scored. A multitude of singles would help push across their 2nd run of the game in the bottom of the 4th. Jesse Grasso leadoff with a triple and scored for the Wonders in the 5th and a combination of singles and a double from Mike Harrington scored two more for them in the 6th. Rounding out their scoring for the day, the Wonders got a run in the 7th via another Strowhauer double, but that would be all they could muster in this one as they fall 11-6.

Game 3: Yankee Clippers v One Hit Wonders

Tha Yankee Clippers got the party started in the 1st as they plate 2 on singles and errors. Walks and singles would plate another fun for the Clips in the 4th inning. In the 5th, Nick Wasekanes hammered home a solo homer, and triples from Andrew Breischaft and Mike O’Conner scored 3 runs. Breichaft and Wasekanes would once again do damage in the 6th inning as back to back doubles would plate their final run of the game. The One Hit Wonders answered the bell in the 1st as they are able to score 2 runs on a triple from Andy Springer and a double from Rob Gisondi. They would then go on to score 3 more in the 2nd on a Josh Parker double and a two run homer from Jesse Grasso. The Wonders exploded in the bottom of the 3rd for 7 runs as they would bat around, highlighted by a three run jack from Jesse Grasso and a Jimmy Cooker triple. They would bat around again in the 5th inning as this time it was homeruns from Derek Strowhauer and Rob Gisondi, combined with an Andy Springer double headlining the 6 run outburst. Jesse Grasso would close the day for the Wonders with his 3rd homer of the game, this one of the two run variety to put an end to this game. Final Score 20-7.

Game 4: One Hit Wonders v Dark Horse

A lot of runs were scored. The end.

One Hit Wonders started the scoring in the 1st with singles and doubles from Springer and Strowhauer plating 6 runs. Dark Horse would answer immediately with 5 runs via singles and a Ryan Schock three run homer. They would take the lead in the 2nd with a two run tater from Paul Ferruzzi Jr. The Wonders recaptured the lead in the top of the 3rd as the would bat around to the tune of 10 runs, highlighted by doubles from Jimmy Cooker and Rob Gisondi and TWO homers from Jack Stepnowski. Making the comeback Dark Horse plates four of their own runs on a Ryan Schock double and a Dave Ketterlinus homer. They would also get a run in the 5th via singles. The 4th,5th and 6th innings really belonged to the One Hit Wonders in this tilt. In the 4th they would score 4 runs on singles, doubles from Stepnowski and Cooker and a three run homer from Jesse Grasso. They would follow that up with a 5 run 5th inning as Jared Owens and Mike Harrington tripled and Jimmy Cooker smashed a homer. In the 6th they would also score 5 runs as this time it was Jared Owens cracking his 2nd triple of the day and Andy Springer launching a homer. Final score 30-11.

Game 5: Bulldogs v Insurance Runs.

The Bulldogs got their scoring started in the top of the 1st as they plate 6 runs by way of doubles from Eric Yuvak and John Hogan, a triple from Shawn Dunn and homers by Mike Suda and Anthony Bates. They would follow that up in the 4th inning, scoring 3 runs on a 3 run sac fly by Paul Burtis. Finalizing their scoring for the day the Bulldogs got 4 runs in the top of the 5th as doubles from Yuvak, Nagle, Hogan and Suda paved the way. The Insurance Runs answered the call with two runs in the 1st via singles. In the 4th inning a huge bat around wowed the crowd as
8 runs scored on 9 singles and a fielder’s choice. In the bottom of the 5th the Insurance Runs would cap their scoring in the game with 5 more runs, highlighted by a Joe Rowan triple and a Colin Beatty two RBI double. Final Score 15-13 IRs

Game 6: Dark Horse v Insurance Runs

Dark Horse got the scoring started with a monster 4 runs 1st inning, highlighted by a Bill Jones RBI double. They would continue to score in the 2nd inning as 4 more runs would be pushed across the plate via singles and a Paul Ferruzzi Sr two bagger. A good ol’ fashioned bat around in the top of the 4th saw 8 runs cross the plate as Dustin Ruiz and Jim Walker doubled, Paul Ferruzzi Jr. tripled and Zach Adams crushed a three run homer. In the top of the 5th, the Dark Horse scoring show continued as they pushed across four more runs, this time by way of singles and doubles from Dustin Ruiz (his 2nd) and Dave Ketterlinus. The Insurance Runs answered the scoring in the bottom of the 1st as they were able to plate 4 runs on doubles from Beatty, Philipps, Rowan and Quinn combined with a triple from Matt Hickey to do the damage. They would get a run on another RBI double from Seth Mattlemen in the 2nd inning. Errors and singles would plate another run in the 3rd inning and in the 4th the IRs would bat around to the sweet sound of 8 runs on singles, and doubles from Mattlemen and Rowan. Capping their day in the bottom of the 5th the IRs got 5 additional runs via another Mattlemen double combined with a three bagger from Matt Freedman guiding them to the final score 19-19.
