B East Opening Day - April 18th

Post by latincontrol »

The Sunday Coed Slate finally got underway this past Sunday and reminding us of old times past, more teams are now in the fold and we will get these reviews started with the reformed B East Conference.
Lukens Park: One Game
Bottom Pitches v. Gwynedd Manufacturing
BP must have had plenty of bp as they strung together 6 singles to start the game while David Gordon grounded out to 2nd but somehow drove in 2 runs. Right off the jump they took an 8-0 lead. Gwynedd manufactured 4 runs of their own in the first and added 4 more in the 2nd with the help of 2 walks in the inning. Jimmy Webb doubled home 2 in the 4th to cap their run production to 13 for the game.
BP went silent in the middle innings surrendering the lead, but with Steve Noseworthy driving in 3 runs in the 6th and 7th innings combined, he helped pitches push across 13 more runs in route to a 23-13 opening day win.

Hatfield Park (School Road) Game One:
Slap-A-Pitch v. Gwynedd Manufacturing II
Manufacturing crew displaying their 2nd team in the division and while the first one showed some offense, this version of the Gwyn Crew struggled. In the 3rd, Chuck Mastrangelo and Chris Smith both scored after getting on base via singles…but that would be it. Gwyn squad finished with 2 runs on 7 hits.
SAP squad fared better. A steady onslaught of singles and errors by their opponent allowed to them to score 18 times. Harrison Miller was 4-5 and Matt Milkovich was also 4-5 with a HR. Despite playing short handed and taking an out, SAP dominated the game 18-2.

Game Two: Slap-A-Pitch v. Van Fossen’s Vikings
SAP looked to continue their short-handed dominance but quickly came to an end. In this game they managed just 6 runs on 10 hits. Several errors allowed mini rallies to stay alive. Matt Milkovich this time with a 2-run homer in the 4th inning.
The Fossen Vikings had themselves a tremendous first inning scoring 9 runs which began with Blake Hildebrand’s triple. Zach Walsh triple home a run in the 2nd inning and another barrage of singles in the 3rd inning yielded 6 more runs. For good measure, Jake Gladish highlighted a 4-run 4th inning with a 2-run single. The Vikings scored 21 and took the game decisively in 4 innings.

Game Three: Mike’s York Street v. Van Fossen’s Vikings
Nothing here but a Vikings forfeit win, 7-0.

Game Four: Keller Williams v. Mike’s York Street
Well, Keller Williams can sell homes but for this game, could not buy a run. Well, maybe 1 run on 4 hits. Emily Grove tripled and scored in the 3rd.
Mike’s team showed up for the 2nd game of their twin bill and got to work. A hitting clinic put on by Mike’s led them to score 4 runs in the 1st, 7 in the 2nd and 7 more in the 3rd. Eighteen total runs highlighted several players who were perfect at the plate. Tim Hilferty 3-3, Steve Miller 2-2 before ebing ejected, Drew Amoroso 3-3, Matt Asterito 3-3, Anthony Nevarre 2-2 and Trip Fisher 2-2. Mike’s easy winners, 18-1.
