Week 1 at the Quarry

Game #1 –Wackers vs. Sharks

The Sharks get opening day started with five runs in the first inning. Adam Kopfinger smacks a RBI double followed by an RBI single from Steve Reichling and two run single from Kristin Jackamonis. Wackers get one back in the top of the second on a Angie Georgiadis RBI single. Sharks answer immediately and get RBI singles from both Lisa Silvestri and Tom McCarthy to take a 5-1 lead early. A Katie Cherba sac fly and Joe Murray RBI single cut the lead back to five, but then Sharks erupt for 5 in the bottom of the inning. This is lead by a McCarthy bases clearing triple, already giving him 5 RBI’s in the game. Silverstri and Reichling also add RBI singles in the inning. Both teams goes scoreless until the sixth where Wackers tack on three runs to bring it to a 13-6 game. Sharks would go on a tear in the bottom of the inning and score nine runs. Silvestri had a bases clearing triple and Jackamonis added two more with a single. The game ends early due to run rule. Sharks win 22-6.

Game #2 – Carrolls vs. Pools

The second game of the night starts off with a Greg Lesher solo home run. Mike Zhardnick and John Zeits add three more runs with a RBI double and two run single. Ray Patano answers for Pools with a sac fly in the bottom of the inning to make it a 4-1 game. Carroll’s blow the game wide open early in the second as they send 16 batters to the plate and get 11 runs in the inning.Joslyn Tomilson, Lesher, Kyle Gallagher and John Zeits get RBI singles in the inning. Keving Shinkunas and Bryan Bart also added two run doubles in the inning as well. Carrolls continue to hit well and add two more runs in the third with a RBI triple from Gallagher and RBI single from Bart. Pools try to climb back into the game scoring 4 runs over the next two innings, but they have a tough time cutting down the big deficeit. Greg Lesher adds another homer late in the game, this time a two run shot to secure the first victory for Carroll’s.

Game#3 – Andy’s vs. Demons


Demons get the third game started in the bottom of the third with a Zack Martin RBIdouble and John Erb 2 run sac fly. Andy’s answer in the top of the second and tie the game up thanks to a Tom Mason two run double and sac fly from Chris Hesdon. Erb knocks in two more runs in the following inning, this time on a two run double followed by a RBI single from Nick Mancini to give them a 7-3 lead. Erb adds another two run double in the fourth to increase that lead to 9-3. Andy’s continue to struggle at the plate as they can’t put up any the next couple of innings. Demons have a long fifth inning to really put them ahead in this game. Bryan Peterman and Frank Kurtz started it with RBI singles followed by RBI’s from Martin, Erb and Thrasher. Demons would add two more in the sixth to end this one early. Demons win 18-3 to get there first win of the year.

Game #4 – Bry Lex vs. Roos


The last night of the game starts off with a Dan Wehlau RBI single to give Roos the early 1-0 lead. Cindy Snyder helps them tie this game up in the top of the first for Bry-Lex making it a 1-1 game after two. Bry Lex open up in the top of the third and score five runs, three of them coming from a Ryan Hines three run homer. Lowell Snyder and Colin Donahue add RBI’s in the inning as well. Roos answer with three runs to cut the game to two after RBI singles from Dan Cymerman and John Shoemaker as well as a RBI triple from Dan Wehlau. Bry Lex again have a big inning in the fifth and open their lead to 15-6. The whole team got involved as Steph Hines, Jenna Bundy, and Cindy Snyder come up with RBI singles, Ryan Hines adds a RBI triple and Eric Rosenblum adds a grand slam. Roos answer with four runs to make it a 15-9 game. Shoemaker helps with two RBI’s in the inning. Bry Lex adds an insurance run late in the game after a blasting leadoff triple by Cody Miller to win their opening night game. Bry Lex wins 16-12.
