Week 6 at the Quarry

Game #1 –LA Pools vs. Carrolls Jewelers

Carroll’s get the scoring started in this one pushing two runs across in the first inning. Mike Zhardinack had an RBI single in the inning. Pools answer back in the top of the first. With two runs of their own getting a couple singles to start and then forcing them home on a couple errors. Pools come back strong again in the third with five more runs to take a lead. Brian Steeber smacked a two run single and Linda Dart and Samantha Grismore added RBI singles as well. Bryan Bart and Zhardinack try and answer with RBI singles of their own in the bottom of the inning, but that is quickly answer by RBI singles from Mike Cianfichi and Joan Glass. Carrolls take a lead in the fifth with help with some big extra base hits. Shinkunas had an RBI triple and Greg Lesher and Bart added two run bombs. Carrolls put the game away in the next inning as they bat around and push nine runs across thanks to RBI singles. Terry Leach added an RBI double in the inning as well. Carrolls win 19-12.

Game #2 – Dugout Demons vs. LA Pools

Demons start this one off slow as they can only grab one run early with a Dana Bradley RBI double. Pools try to start out strong in this one and grab three runs across the first couple innings, getting RBI’s from Brian Steeber and Darcy Rabenda. A Zach Martin bomb and RBI single from Nick Mancini give Demons a 4-3 lead heading to the bottom of the third. Pools quickly tie it on an RBI walk from Samantha Grismore. Ray Patano give Pools a lead with a two run triple in the fourth and that is quickly backed up with a Greg Lesher RBI single. That lead is built up to five as we head to the last inning with Demons trailing. Martin really cuts into that lead with a Grand Slam and still no outs in the inning. The very next batter, Jon Poore smashes a solo bomb to tie this game up. A couple batters later Ted Peck gives them the lead with a RBI double and a couple other RBI singles give Demons a 15-11 lead. Pools step up in the bottom of the inning, but unfortunately goes down 1,2,3 and fall in this one. Demons win 15-11.

Game#3 – Dugout Demons vs. Andy’s

Demons try to start this one off hot after their big come from being victory, but again only push two run’s across in the first couple innings. Andy’s match them only grabbing one run as well as defense really plays out early. Demons break open in the third getting an Erb RBI single, Mancini RBI double and two run double from Alex Elmore. Jason Pane helps to bring Andy’s back getting a bases clearing double and the following inning Tom Mason joins that train and knocks a two run triple bringing the game to within two. Andy’s take the lead in the bottom of the fifth after back to back RBI walks from Pane and Brittany Ulman and a Mike Koz RBI single. Back and forth we go as in the top of the sixth Demons score five and take a lead. Erb smashes a bases clearing triple and Peck knocked him in with a RBI single. Warren Grant ties the game up in the bottom of the inning with a two run single as we head to the seventh tied at 13. Demons break open another big seventh inning like the previous game this time scoring seven runs. Sean Przychowictz and Martin had two run extra base hits and Poore and Erb added RBI doubles. Andy’s go down in order in the bottom of the inning and fall in this one. Demons win 20-13.

Game #4 –Sharks vs. Wackers

The last game of the night begins with a Jeff Pierce two run single and a Sharks lead. Wackers answer in the bottom of the inning with an Eddie Haddle and Angelo Vitantonia RBI singles. Wackers open up a huge lead in the bottom of the second with seven runs. Wackers got RBI singles from Mike Kelley and Joe Murray, an RBI triple from Vitantonia and bases clearing double from Todd Gibson. Sharks answer in the third with RBI hits from Glen Hipple, Pierce and Ed Doyle. Wackers continue to hit well and in the third, get a home run out of Mike Kelley making this a 14-7 lead. Sharks continue to fight and over the next two innings get a two run triple from Hipple and RBI two separate RBI singles from Joe Sharp. They cut the lead to 2 heading to sixth. Sharks are able to come all the way back and then some as they have a five run inning and take a three run lead. Bill Moore had a big two run double to give them the lead. With their backs against the wall, Wackers came out swinging. Veronica Gerye, Jeff Mullaly and Brittany Ullman all had RBI singles to tie this game up and after getting the winning run in scoring position, they fall short and the game ends in a tie.
