Week 8 at the Quarry

Game #1 – Blue Dog Tavern vs. Sons of Pitches

Bill Roth gets this game started for Blue Dog with an RBI single in the first inning. John Rodriguez helps Blue Dog even more in the second with a two run single giving them a 2-0 lead after two innings. Pitches grab the lead in the third grabbing one run on RBI single and a bases clearing single from Kevin Fink. Dave Gers gets an RBI single in the fourth followed by a Roth two run single which gets them back the lead. Pitches quickly tie it up on a two run bomb by Jon Motts. Both teams grab a run in the fifth inning which gives us a tie game heading to the sixth inning. Blue Dog break open in the top of the inning grabbing six runs. Roth continues to hit well with another RBI single as well as a Kolecki RBI single, Jason Robinson two run single and Rodriguez RBI double. Dan Hinchcliff and Carl Motts help respond with two runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to three. Jeanie Depaul Nelson and Bob Kolecki put the game away for Blue dog in the bottom of the inning with two RBI’s. Blue Dog wins 15-10.

Game #2 – Bry Lex vs. Sons of Pitches

Ryan Hines opens the scoring for Bry-Lex with a two run single which gives them a 3-0 lead early. Sons try and build on their last game and put up five runs, batting around in the process. Jon Motts started with an RBI single followed by a Dan Hinchcliff two run triple. Carl Motts adds a RBI triple in the bottom of the second to push their lead to 6-3. The gloves come out in the third and fourth inning as neither team is able to push any runs across. C. Motts was back at it again in the fifth, this time crushing a solo home run and upping their lead to 7-3. Pitches add two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to bring their lead to 9-3. Hinchcliff had a two run single in the inning. With their backs up against the wall, Bry Lex comes out swining with a leadoff triple from Doug Moninghoff. Colin Donohoe scores him with a single followed by a two run single from Cody Miller. Ryan Hines then steps up and blasts a two run home run. Later in the innings Jenna Bundy and Bryce Bundy knock in a run to take a 10-9 lead after a seven run inning. Pitches go down without any runs as Bry Lex steals this game late. Bry Lex wins 10-9.
