Playoffs at the Quarry

Game #1 – Carroll’s vs. Andy’s

Carroll’s get on the board first in this one getting a run on a Kyle Gallagher RBI single. Andy’s answer in the bottom of the second inning with a Jason Pane RBI single after an opening RBI single from Chase Luxtox. Carroll’s get right back in the third inning with a Greg Lesher RBI double. Gallagher then steps up again and knocks in two on a two run single. Steve DiGiovanni scores later in the inning after getting on with a single of his own. Andy’s go down in the bottom of the third with no runs as this continues to be a low scoring game. Andy’s finally put together a good inning and take the lead in the fourth after RBI singles from Luxton and Chris Hesdon, a two run single from Jason Pane and sac fly from Brittany Ulman. They take the 6-4 lead. Mike Zhardinack helps get Carroll’s within a run with a RBI single in the fifth. Defense really takes over the game as both teams cannot push any more across and it will end as a 6-5 game. Andy’s take the win and move onto the championship against Dugout Demons.

Game #2 – Wackers vs. Sharks

The second game of the night starts with Wackers striking first. Todd Gibson knocks in a run on a fielder’s choice. Sharks answer with four runs of their own. Steve Reichling and Tom McCarthy had RBI singles and Tom Finn added a two run single to give them an early 4-1 lead. Mike Kelly and Josh Owens answer for Wackers getting RBI singles of their own to pull them to within one. Sharks push their lead out to 8-3 in the third getting sac fly from Finn. Wackers continue to fight back and get an RBI single from Emily Gibson making it an 8-4 game. Sharks open up a bigger lead in the bottom of the inning and score six runs. Jeff Pierce had an RBI walk and Finn and Silvestri had RBI’s in the inning as well. Wackers get four more runs late in the game from RBI doubles from Mike Kelly and Katie Cherba and an RBI triple from Gibson, but that wouldn’t be enough in this one. Sharks win and move on to play Bry Lex in the championship.
