Opening Day at the Quarry 4-1-19

Game #1 –LA Pools vs. Bry Lex

Greg Rielly gets the 2019 season started with a leadoff single. He scores a couple batters later after a Greg Lavin double. Bry Lex answer immediately with a Steph Hines RBI. Bry Lex really gets moving in the bottom of the second getting back to back singles from Michelle Mathe and Lowell Snyder, followed by a two run single from Eric Rosenblum. Jenna Bundy adds a RBI single later to give them a five run inning. Nick Dipaolo keeps things rolling for Bry Lex with an RBI triple as Bry Lex opens their lead up to 9-1 after three innings. LA Pools continue to struggle at the plate as Bry Lex continues to hold their lead going into the later innings. Bry Lex grab a couple more runs over the last couple innings and cruise to the first win of the year. Bry Lex wins 11-1.

Game #2 – Sons of Pitches vs. Dug Out Demons

The second game of the year starts off with RBI singles from K. Motts, Carl Motts and CJ Motts to give Pitches an early 3-0 lead. Demons respond getting two runs of a triple from Greg Thompson. Demons get back to it in the second with some RBI singles of their own. Phil Black and Lisa Silvestri get it started and a couple batters later, Lauren Wood scores one on a fielder’s choice. Pete Edgar smashes a two run homer in the third for Pitches to make it a two run game. This was short lived as Demons explode in the bottom of the third for eight runs. Katie O’Toole and Katie Wiley had two RBI hits and Nick Mancini and Lisa Silvestri had RBI’s as well. Kevin Roche adds a solo shot in the fourth to increase their lead to eight. This was more than enough to handle Pitches as they can only muster up one more run the rest of the game. Demons win 14-7.

Game#3 – Sons of Pitches vs. Wackers

Pitches come out strong in the second game of their doubleheader getting two runs on back to back RBI doubles. Wackers match that quickly and get five runs in the bottom of the inning. Bill Brancato and Erick Szostak start the scoring with back to back RBI singles and Carmen Brancato knocks them in with a two run triple. Mike Tercha adds another run later. Wackers match the five from the first inning with another eight runs in the third. Joe Murray, Angela Georgiadas, and Jamie Glennon had RBI singles. Bill Brancato added a RBI double and Constatine Georgiadas had a two run single. Both teams score five runs in the fourth as this game seems destined to be a high scoring affair. CJ Motts smashes a two run bomb for Pitches Glennon did the damage for Wackers with a two run double. Offense slows down for the Wackers as Pitches pick it up over the last couple innings. Edgar stays hot on the day and helps with a RBI single and two run triple and CJ Motts continue his hot hotting with three more RBI’s on a single and triple. Wackers go cold late and lose this close game. Pitches win 19-18.

Game #4 – Andy’s vs. Carroll’s

The last game of opening day gets underway with a two run first for Carroll’s. Ray Patano gets one with an RBI double and Kevin Shinkunas follows that up with an RBI single. Andy’s get that back in the second with three runs of their own. Ian Cuozzo gets the first one followed by a Chris Hesdon RBI single. Chase Luxton adds an RBI triple in the third as they increase their lead to 5-2. Andy’s start to pull away in the third getting seven runs. Chase Luxton, Brittany Ullman and Hesdon have RBI singles and Warren Grant adds a two run single. Bob McClintock tries to get Carroll’s back in the game with a two run triple, but Andy’s still trail big in this one. Jason Pane grabs three more runs later for Andy’s and they cruise to an easy win on opening day. Andy’s win 21-5.
