Week 2 - April 17th

Post by latincontrol »

Game One: Slurricanes v. Cales Pale Ales
This 19-16 final saw Chris Keeler have himself a 3-4 game which included 2 home runs and 5 ribbies. Both HR’s came in the late innings (6th and 7th) which helped Slurricanes plate 8 runs. Those 8 runs in the late innings was half of their offense for the night putting them in a position to win.
A massive 13 run outburst in the 4th inning certainly kept Pale Ales in the game. Craig Magid has the big blow, a 3-run bomb…but doubles from Kevin Raymond & Nick Delaurentis helped drive in 3 more. The Pale Ales plated 19 and took this game holding off the late rally.

Game Two: Just Food v. Mike’s Bar & Grill
Mike scored 13 in the game with all of their runs coming by the 3rd inning. Eddie Haddle doubled home 2 in the first and forced in a run in the 2nd with a walk. Rich Stead had himself a 2-run sac fly in the 2nd and a bases clearing triple in the third. He finished with 5 rbis.
Just Food trailed this entire game but put on a furious rally in the later innings. Chris Manion, Josh Owens, Anthony Casselli & Ron Topporwski all scored in the 5th with Josh doubling home another run in the 7th and Anthony Casselli driving in 2 with a 2 out single in the 7th. Just Food pulled within one, but the game ended with a bad strikeout with the tying and winning run on base. Just Food just missed out losing 13-12.

Game Three: Beers v. Porsche
Fifty-Three runs scored in the game, both teams combined. Wow
So much offense to talk about but we will focus on Josh Goldberg of the Beers. Josh had himself a 4-5 night which included 2 doubles, a triple, a HR, 3 runs scored and 7 rbi’s. Great night for Josh.
For Porsche we will zero in on Mike Koetzer who went 4-4 with 3 runs scored. He doubled twice and drove in a run. Tom Koelzer was 3-4 with 3 runs scored, 2 singles, a HR and 4 ribbies.
Porsche won this game 33-20.

Game Four: Vertex v. Toto Financial
Vertex started the game well by plating 8 runs in the first. Chris Knechel smashed a 3-run bomb and Frank Staber singled home 2 more. Chris would go on to knock home another run with a single and Matt Schaub scored 3 more runs. Vertex scored 14 for the game.
Toto Financial got things really going in the 4th. A barrage of singles led to a 7 run inning highlighted by Ryan Goodman’s bases-clearing double and Mike Woroniak’s 2-run single. Trailing 14-13 in the home 7th…Mike Koszowski led off with a single. Chris Woroniak then replaced him with a fielders choice, Matt McReynolds got on base after a crucial error by the right fielder setting the stage for John Kiefer who would rip the walk off 2-run single --- winning the game 15-14.
