Welcome to the Tuesday Night Men’s Opening Day Slate of Games! With the league now implementing a new system to push back all inclement weather with the push of a button, the 2019 season is sure to run smoothly and please the likes of all ball players! Sure, no issues this season. PLAY BALL!

Game 1: Da Bears v. Pitches Be Crazy

Tyler Foerst and Matt Kohn get their spring going in good fashion. Combined, they were 7-9 with 6 runs scored and 3 xbh. Matt smashed a solo bomb in the 6th and finished with 3 rbi. Currean Cornely, hitting out of 9th spot was a nice 4-4 with 4 singles. Da Beers pushed 14 men across the plate.

Pitches Be Crazy had themselves two good innings, the 1st and 5th. A series of walks helped PBC score 4 times in the first and timely hitting helped them score 6 times in the 6th. Blasé Contino had a 2-run single in the 6th while Brian Hughes went 2-2 in the inning. Brian Hilbert finished the night going 3-4 with 3 singles, a run scored and rbi. PBC scored 10 times but would fall short.

Game 2: Vertex v. Cale’s Pale Ales

Cale’s Pale Ales lead off hitter, Kevin Raymond also started off well. Kevin’s line for the night included 4 singles, 3 runs scored and 2 rbi as he was perfect on the night with a 4-4 line. Jacob was 2-3 with a triple and runs scored helping Pitches Be Crazy score 9 times…unfortunately coming up short and losing their season opener.
Vertex was the reason for their loss and Matt Crowell was one o
f the reasons. Matt had a 3-4 night with a huge bases-clearing triple in the 3rd inning and finishing the night with 4 rbi and 3 runs scored. Mike Bitterlich had a good night as well going 3-3 with 3 doubles. Vertext had 14 runners cross the plate and secure their season’s 1st W.

Game 3: Beers v. Team Horsham

On to game 3 and we have the Beers looking to knock off Team Horsham. But their offense was sporadic at best and they milked a run here or there on their way to 8 runs scored. Matt Kane tripled home a run in the 2nd, Connor MacFarlane tripled home another in the 3rd and Ryan Calabro singled home 2 in the 6th.

Team Horsham had themselves one huge inning in route to securing their first win. Vince Paone and Mike Crompton both doubled home two runs in the 3rd while Brett Severino homered. Bill Meehl also drove in 2 in the inning with his single. Team Horsham scored 12 times, they win.

Game 4: Just Food v. Mike’s York Street Bar & Grill

Just Food had consistent production from a handful of guys. Lead off man Pete Avkri went 4-4 with 4 singles, 3 runs scored and 4 ribbies. Mike Casbar went 3-3 with a home run short of the cycle and 5 rbi. Bob Obrien hitting out of the 11 home, went 1-1 with a single and 2 walks which turned the line up over each time. Just Food plated 15 runs for the game.

Mike’s started off slow, but they rallied late. Tony Stewart’s 2-run single in the 1st inning would be the only offense Mike’s would muster leading to the 5th. A couple of defensive miscues led to a couple more runs being scored and in the 6th, Mike’s got to work. Joey Talarico singled home 2 as did Dave Shannon. Six runs came across and in the 7th, Eric Wesolowski drove in 1 as did Eddie Haddle. But the rally ended there and the night-cap belongs to Just Food with a 15-12 final.
