Week 4 at the Quarry

Game 1: Vertex Pest Management (1-1) at The Commission (1-1)
Vertex goes scoreless in the top of the 1st and The Commission would plate 5 in the bottom half on a single, two doubles and two walks. Vertex gets 3 back in the top of the 2nd but The Commission would erupt in the bottom half. After two leadoff singles, The Commission gets back-to-back HRs by Kyle Smith and Ted Peck. After two fly-outs, another HR by Greg Thompson followed by a walk, three singles and another set of back-to-back HRs by Kyle Smith and Ted Peck give The Commission a 18-3 lead. Vertex gets 2 in the top of the 3rd but another HR by Kyle Smith gets them right back for The Commission. Vertex makes a game of it in the top of the 4th, plating 11 runs on eight singles, three doubles, a triple and a 3-run HR by Jim Hahn. They’d hold The Commission in the bottom half and plate 2 more in the top of the 5th, cutting their deficit to only 2 runs, 20-18. In the bottom of the 5th, a 4th HR by Kyle Smith puts The Commission up 22-18. Vertex would get 2 in the top of the 6th but it wouldn’t be enough and they’d fall 22-20.

Player of the game: Kyle Smith (The Commission) 4/4 (4 HR) 4 R, 10 RBI

Game 2: Jamison Pour House (0-1-1) at Callahan Auto (1-0)
This is one would be over quickly. JPH gets 3 in the top of the 1st on four hits and Callahan gets 1 back in the bottom half. Then JPH opens it up, scoring 12 runs on the top of the 2nd on four errors, nine singles, two doubles, a triple, a walk and three fielder’s choices. Callahan would get 1 back in the bottom half, 1 in the 4th and 2 in the 6th but it wouldn’t be enough as JPH would add 9 to their total in the 7th and JPH takes this one 25-6.

Player of the game: Billy Cunningham (JPH): 6/7 (6 1B) 2 R, 4 RBI

Game 3: Irish Car Bombs (1-1) at Brew Crew (1-0)
Here’s another game that would be over quickly. ICB gets 3 in the top of the 1st on a double, a triple a double and a single. Brew Crew gets 1 of them back in the bottom half but ICB would erupt in the top of the 2nd, plating 8 runs on six hits, three errors and a sac fly to take a 11-1 lead. That would be more than enough as Brew Crew would only score 4 more runs and ICB takes this one 20-5.

Player of the game: Zach Martin (ICB): 3/4 (2B, 2 HR) 3 R, 3 RBI

Game 4: Outback Steak House (0-1-1) at Mayhem (2-0)
Outback gets 1 in the top of the 1st on an error and RBI double. Mayhem quickly takes the lead I the bottom half on a walk, double, three RBI singles and a sac fly to make it 4-1. Outback gets four straight singles followed by a 3-run HR by Ryan Maley in the top of the 2nd to take 6-4 lead. Mayhem is held in the bottom half and then Outback gets 3 more on a double, a single two walks and an error to take a 9-4 lead. Mayhem would tie the game in the bottom of the 3rd with a leadoff error, a sac fly, four straight singles and a 3-run HR by KC Ingram. Both teams go scoreless in the 4th and Outback is also held in the top of the 5th. Mayhem takes the lead on a leadoff solo HR by Mike Bitterlich in the bottom of the 5th and would add 4 more on singles and a 3-run HR by KC Ingram. Outback is again held in the top of the 6th and Mayhem would plate 6 in the bottom half on a 2-run HR by Mike Bitterlich and five straight singles. Outback gets 2 back in the bottom of the 7th but it wouldn’t be enough and Mayhem takes this one 19-11.
